There actually is a plausible explanation for this: Amber didn't report to the cops, one of her friends did. It's possible that her friend genuinely thought Amber was in danger and called the cops, which would make the police report truthful at least to the best extent of her friend's knowledge.

All three statements referred to a hoax. The only statement that the jury found defamatory was the second... the "hoax" in that statement specifically referred to a conspiracy to set up a fake crime scene and call the cops. The jury found, for whatever reason, that this statement was defamatory... but both of the other statements referred to Amber's sexual violence / abuse hoax, and THOSE WEREN'T FOUND DEFAMATORY!

The jury absolutely did not find that the statement that her abuse allegations were a hoax was defamatory. They specifically found that it wasn't defamatory... twice!

Is there some pathological need for lawl twitter constantly to make authoritative statements about shit they know absolutely nothing about? It would be one thing if they made the occasional mistake, which everyone does, and acknowledged it, but instead they make up absolute bullshit completely unconnected to any facts of record, then completely ignore any refutation.

Honestly they're fucking insufferable.
