I don't know. At this point, it's safe to assume that any drug you buy from a low-level dealer is cut to shit with fentanyl. The dealers you buy from on the street aren't the ones cutting the dope, they have no idea by whom or with what it might be cut, and it's not really their obligation to remind you to test every batch. The fentanyl scourge has been widespread for like a decade now; anyone who uses hard drugs is well aware of the risk of getting a hot shot. Choosing not to test your shit before you shoot up and dying as a result isn't your dealer's fault. I say this as a former IV heroin user with multiple near-fatal overdoses: the onus of any harm reduction strategy necessarily falls upon the user. If knowing people who have died from fentanyl overdose and getting free, simple to use test strips from the exchange isn't enough to make a person test their dope every time, there's nothing that will convince them. It's awful and sad to think about it, but sometimes people are so sick they can't think right anymore. The people who resort to slinging dope on the street are in a desperate situation themselves and don't really deserve to be blamed when they sell an eight ball to someone who dies.
I've also mentioned this before, but for a lot of IV heroin users, saying "this batch has killed
x people" is not exactly a negative endorsement. It just means the dope is good and it will fuck them up. Until it fucks you up so badly that you're found dead three days later with the syringe still in your arm.
Kiwi Friends, if the omnipresent spectre of fentanyl hasn't scared off of dope yet, please, please test every batch you buy, even if you know and trust your dealer. If you don't know how to test, you can send me a message and I'll walk you through it. Getting clean is always a possibility, too, no matter what. It's hard but you have done harder things. You deserve to be free.
