Resident Evil 4 Remake - Ashley is now an Instagram Thot

I *sincerely* hope the remake is at best an upscaling of the original game. Fuck, i'd buy if it was the exact same thing, but with new features, modes and areas added

Some games still hold up today, and RE4 is one of them, i doubt the remake is gonna be better

It's going to be a fun game that loses all the charm of the original. Which I guess is "fine" for this reboot/remake universe, but it leads me to wonder where they go from here? Remake RE5? Redo RE6? Keep ignoring Code Veronica?

I hope Mendez stalks you throughout the first act just to really re-ignite the anger over Nemesis in REmake 3.
Mendez felt like he could've been way more than the couple of appearances. He shows up and conveniently decides to inexplicably let the parasite work despite Leon having already burnt through a large number of villagers. If he actually opposed you more than his actual fight it would be entertaining, though that assumes they don't totally fuck it up.

I'm not holding my breath on this. It helps personally that RE4 is extremely easy to get on an emulator and made such a huge impact that I don't think a remake is going to torpedo it. Though I'm also a firm believer that remakes are a dodgy and shitty practice these days. They will always fuck something up.

Meh. Trailer is ok.

I've heard leaks that A) some bosses have been cut B) Saddler is more scientist than cultist, C) you enter the ganado village at dusk now so its darker, the chainsaw enemy has an actual backstory now, Luis Seras role has been increased, and Ashley goes from being a tag along to trying to do things to help Leon in combat now, such as distracting enemies when you get swarmed.

Being that The village at night time was just confirmed by this trailer I think its safe to assume there's an extra grain of salt to the other rumors too. I just wish Capcom would stop being pussies about the graphic violent in RE games. Sure you can blow an enemy into pieces, but any dismemberment deaths that happen to player characters have been neutered since RE5 and that thats pretty fucking lame. Bt then again I'm a gorehound when it comes to slasher and horror themed entertainment and prefer it remain as part of the game to help maintain atmosphere than neutered to appeal to to Europeans.

Didn't they confirm that the new devs wanted to take this game in a radically different direction? Maybe I'm pulling that out of my ass since there's been so many supposed 'leaks'.

Anyway, my hopes are middling. I'd be cool with a bigger emphasis on horror and a slightly more serious tone to make the remake stand apart from the goofier original, since it's almost perfect at being cheesy and I've always wanted RE4 but with a little more spook. I'm mostly worried about cut content, I expect that the game will axe large portions of the castle and the island, enemy types, guns, and significant story elements.
Keep ignoring Code Veronica?
I really can't believe they skipped over it. Out of all the games people WANTED remade with liberal changes this one was staring them in the fucking face and they jumped right to the one they are almost certainly going to fuck up? Capcom may be better than it used to be but it's still dumb as hell.

Going by the trailer it looks like they've removed all the campness from the voice acting and the game's taking itself far too seriously. RE4 is such a well-known game at this point that it's going to be a far bigger controversy than the RE3 Remake if they cut content, as well. I also don't like that they went with the weak-jawed face of the RE2 Remake Leon and why does Ashley look like 30 years old?

I'm going to play it but the trailer is concerning.

I prefer the old Leon voice but the game looks good.

Finally capcom will stop porting Resident Evil 4 to everything!
I was surprised it didn't hit 3DS or Vita, especially considering some of the obscure versions out there and the fact other Residemt Evil games were on there.

Who even asked for this? It made sense to remake the first three Resident Evil games because even their fans would admit those games hadn't aged well, RE4 has aged just fine. It's like when Call of Duty 4 was "remastered" a few years ago as if that game needed it. Pretty much any game made after about 2002 is just as playable now as when it was first released.

Remaking Resident Evil 4 at all is already going to piss people off, the least they can do is try to shake it up and distinguish it by including more horror elements, especially if those horror elements take inspiration from the scrapped builds. It might devolve into camp like RE4 did anyways.

I can only see this being mediocre or slightly above average. I've played through RE4 not to long ago, and it still holds up really damn well once you get used to the controls again. It's one of those games you can play through again every couple of years and still have a blast. I just don't see any possible way they're going to make a better version.

RE4 is fun because Leon is fun. He was a campy character that, by this point in his career, gave no shits anymore and pretty much roflstomped all the baddies vs the other older games.
Code Veronica was remade, twice. Both remakes suck. The Dreamcast version is the definitive version of the game. Adding a final Wesker cutscene when the places is literally exploding is god damn stupid. It also had my favorite version of the Redfields. Tough and skilled, but still vulnerable and all that.

Though, Canonically, both Redfields are immune to the Progenitor virus and it's offshoots as well as for Chris the metamycite and the heat of a volcano. I can't think of any other protagonist in the series that has been exposed to so much shit that should have infected him and it doing jack shit.

Honestly, this is just continuing down the path of catering to YouTube screamlords by trying to make RE dark and gritty.

Newflash, the shit was never scary. It was never a horror game series. It was always meant to be cheesy, B-movie send ups.

But since these dents can't figure out they got scared cus they were stupid fucking kids when the originals dropped, (myself included) they think it's meant to be this gritty horror.

This game is going to suck outloud, just like all modern RE.

The best way to do this would be the OoT 3D route: Update the character models and textures and make a few quality of life improvements, but don't fuck too much with a good thing.

The cheesy elements need to stay. The cheese is what makes Resident Evil memorable. Dimitrescu got attention from horny internet people first, but her over-the-top stage villain feel is what makes her memorable. Same with Heisenberg and that fishman fucker in Village.
