Sony hate thread

I think Sony must regret releasing the PS5 so early. Who drops a new expensive as fuck console during a time when there's an economic recession and computer chip shortage? When scalper culture is at its peak? Nobody has the damn console, which means nobody buys its games, which means the games on it keep getting delayed or made multi platform. That hurts sales of the console even more, which hurts the sales of the games even more, which means more games get delayed, so forth and so on. It's a viscous circle of failure. The launch has been a disaster.

Is this going to be the first Sony console to flop? There was the Vita, but that was handheld. The PS3 had an equally bad launch, but it had the support of Jap developers and it sold very well in gookland. But Sony turned its back on Japan by putting diversity shit in every game, and the Japs turned their back on Sony in return. I think the days of 7 year lifespans for consoles are over. It takes so much money to develop a console and so long to build up a user base, if your console is a hit you might as well stick with it for as long as possible. PS5 games look exactly the same as PS4 games. What was the point of pivoting to a new gen when the PS4 still had so much life left in it and such a massive user base? I think console gens will probably last a decade going forward, if not longer.
Microsoft and Sony were both playing a game of chicken. If either of them decided to wait with a new console release they know they will lose potential customers. There will never again be a repeat of the Xbox 360 and PS3 launch, from now on they will always launch within a month of each other.
I also doubt the PS5 will be a flop. It has already outsold lifetime WiiU sales, and will outsell the Gsmecube before the year is over.
It probably should have flopped though considering how weak its library is.
Of course we have to ask ourselves what the fuck Microsoft thinks it's doing ending up in last place yet again, with the saddest library yet.

Square makes shitty action games now with non-sensical stories. FF is dead.

They've been doing it for decades.

Post-Enix Buyout established that Dragon Quest would be the turn based series and Final Fantasy would be the experimental one. Considering that 14 had to be rebuilt from the ground up because none of the team outside of Yoshi seriously played World of Warcraft and other MMOs and WRPGs and then it really took off once he fixed it, 16 is in pretty good hands.

The PS5's library took off quicker than both the PS3 and PS4, it was the shortest to get an actual good Tales of Game with PS3's first good tales game being Graces F and PS4's first good tales game being Berseria. It's already up to two souls games which the PS3 and PS4 didn't have until many years in and already had major first party releases like Forbidden West being for the majority bought on the PS5. People may disparage the last minute PS4 editions for Forbidden West and Ragnarok, but they've been handling the transition between PS4 and PS5 fairly well. The launch of the PS5 was plagued with supply issues and not hardware issues like the PS3. Infact both Series X and PS5 have had no major widespread RROD/YLOD type stuff happen to them. It also had a Final Fantasy game in it's launch year which neither the PS3 or PS4 had.

PS5 won't be a flop [...] It's just going to be a generation where we see the AAA space grow more and more stale.
In America and Europe maybe, but in Japan? It's pretty much guaranteed its flop status with those astounding poor game sales.
Which is why, for instance, I don't believe the sonyfag's claim of Dragon Quest 12 being a PS5 exclusive considering its 'sacred cow' role over there, and the fact the IP belongs to Armor Project (Horii team) and Sugiyama('s heir) rather than Squeenix's (which only does the publishing and copyright stuff). I pretty much see it as a game developed on Switch as the primary platform with an eventual PC port later down the line.

You're still technically right that the PS5 is going to be a console system primarily aimed for (boring) curated AAA titles

Yeah except the PS5 going MTX heavy is specifically for the asian crowd(which they will eat up as seen in Genshin Impact) and the PS5 itself is already performing better throughout asia than the PS4 did at the same point in time. Sony just recently established a major Chinese division for game development and the demographics between Asia and Japan are not a whole lot different when it comes to what game genres they desire. Games like Apex Legends are popular in both Japan, Korea, and China as is stuff like Genshin.

Going boring curated AAA is just your opinion because God of War is a Zelda game and there has not been a serious competitor to Zelda in decades. Not only that but Breath of the Wild is a barebones Ubisoft game with a Zelda skin already.

Also anything and I mean ANYTHING going heavy with Unreal Engine 5 will not run on the Switch. Dragon Quest 12 is an Unreal Engine 5 game and not 4. Square Spent eons already porting 11 because Unreal 4 did not play well on the switch. Square's main install base for their games is on playstation that's why there's no switch port of Final Fantasy 16 either. Bandai Namco is in a similar position which is why Elden Ring and Tales of Arise didn't get brought to the switch.

You must have never played Botw. Comparing Botw with some shitty 3rd person over the shoulder open world skill tree bullshit Ubisoft game is super ignorant. Some ppl may think its overrated thats fair enough, but botw is definitely one of the best games I've played in 2017. No, one of the best games I've played in years. Botw and Yakuza 7 remind me why I play video games. Games Like Watch Dogs Legion or Cyberjunk 2077 remind why I dont play shitty modern western games.

I apologize for the autism rant, but fuck ubisoft.

It's literally beat for beat a ubisoft game. I spent many tens of hours collecting those 900 korok seeds and all but two hours clearing the main line game dungeons. I discovered all the locations, beat all the shrines, and even killed all the overworld bosses because that's a requirement for the secret shop(that and I collected all special horses and cosmetic horse armor).

The problem with BOTW combat is that there is not a whole lot of variety to the monsters. The way combat handles is fine but you could say it's like Monster Hunter, if you fight the same thing over and over(including recolors). It gets boring real quick and you need a whole lot of different shit in there to fight to keep stuff interesting. BOTW lacks variety by a large amount. Series like Xenoblade did their open world elements much better including X which was a wii-u game. I've done all the mainline Zeldas and BOTW was the first one that made shit real tedious and boring. And I'm counting OG Windwaker and needing to speed days up over 100 times because you had to fill out the statue gallery.

How many better action RPGs were there that generation before Kingdom Hearts released?

I don't recognize the other one, but seems like a 7th gen RPG, so probably not great.

The Bottom game is Final Fantasy Type Zero, which was originally a PSP game that was later ported to the PS4 in 2015, it came packaged with a Final Fantasy 15 demo in an attempt to drive sales by association. It was also on Xbox and for a long ass time a game people tried to make A Big Deal™ out of because the PS4 was lacking in any and all RPGs and that game was it. It's still used to this day as proof that it's Only A Matter of Time™ until Square ports 7R and 16 to Xbox because......well there isn't much of a reason. Hardly any of Square's audiance primarily plays on Xbox. Xbox was in the past deemed the New Home of Final Fantasy when the PS3 was in the shitter because 13 got ported to the 360, and then nothing really panned out.

The fact that most people wouldn't recognize Type Zero HD just shows how forgettable the first few years of the PS4 were.

And action RPGs on the original PlayStation had stuff like Legend of Mana and Brave Fencer Musashi.

Why would anyone deem 360 the new home of FF, didn't FF13 release simultaneously for both systems?

I mean within the console generation, so DC/PS2/NGC/XB. KH was probably the best and most impressive up to that point.

By the way, can't help but notice you didn't list the PS5's exclusive...

At the time the 360 was doing better than the PS3 and people felt that Sony's demise was imminent so Square making an Xbox 360 port of their flagship franchise was viewed as the final nail in the coffin. It took roughly 4-5 years to get the PS3 back on track. Because the start of the 2010s was when the system started to make serious gains again coming off of Demon's Souls in 2009. That was the start of the turn around point and the PS3 only really started getting a steady stream of worthwhile stuff at that point. So it was very late in it's life when stuff finally got good and then the PS4 was coming out and wasn't able to read the PS3 discs so you had to start from scratch. PS4 had Knack while an exclusive it was also ass and it's sequel was no different.

As far as PS5 exclusives go if you're not going to count the Corona versions of Horizon Forbidden West and others. It would appear that the PS5 has a weak line up, but being that people primarily bought those titles on the PS5 and not their last gen versions, those are still driving sales of the console even today. Every time a PS5 restock happens Horizon gets a surge on the charts. Sony first party games never had legs like that before to the point where they could be considered Evergreen. The Lego Horizon set has been restocked multiple times due to it's popularity so they've even made headway on the merch front.

I love how in Zelda games you get exactly two solutions to puzzles throughout the entire game and never ever get any gadgets or anything new to solve new kinds of puzzles. I also love it when every area is just the same generic woods outside of the areas that are generic glowing woods and rocks. My favorite part of Zelda is also all the uninteruptable walking and talking segments that take up 20 minutes of your time every 2 minutes of actual gameplay.

What kind of crack are you smoking?

Back on track in terms of units sold maybe, it didn't take half a decade to get good games, exclusives at that. It had more worthwhile games by this point than the PS5 does.

It wouldn't "appear" that the PS5 has a weak line up, it does. And before PS4 is even buried or PS5 establishes itself, PC is eating their lunch. PC master race has never been more true, the memes became real.

And you're telling me the PS5 versions of each of those games sold better on PS5 than PS4? Not impossible but I doubt it, not that it would change anything. It reminds me of people who desperately want to call BotW a Switch exclusive.

God of War 2018 gave you multiple upgrades that were to be used to solve puzzles in order to get further character upgrades. The game specifically had that as a main puzzle mechanic.

There were also multiple different looking biomes, from the Elves Sanctuary to the big dead frost giant, to the Dragon Dungeons.

Also the talking sections were able to be interrupted, the characters only talked while you were on the boat. Unless you're talking about the walk speed throttling, but that was more or less a means of allowing the rest of the game to load without a loading screen.

Square's main bread and butter are jrpg fans. I've bought more Square games on Switch than on PS3/4 combined. Normies want the trash that FF has become. JRPG fans do not.

Also modern GoW games are trash.

But calling 16 normie trash is like calling the Souslborne series that, it's by no definition normie trash, but they hate it because it became popular.

16 seems to share a ton of elements from their previous action RPGs like Nier and while it does have the DMC guy working on it, it's not like DMC's combat at all. The whole DMC series by definition isn't even close to the typical standard either.

Honestly most JRPG developers/publishers seem to do both turn based and action RPGs just fine by having them segregated, even Falcom keeps Ys action based while Legend of Heroes is more turn based.

Their one major attempt at merging the two was Tokyo Xanadu and that just wasn't good. Square's attempts have been better on that front from the mechanics standpoint, 7R's battle system drew from both action RPGs and turn based ones and it worked for even the most difficult fights.

Apparently, you forgot about the other games in "Incredible content".
sony3.png
GTA5, NBA and FIFA, all these big three have microtransaction in their game too. With NBA and FIFA have their own lootbox model. "Incredible content" with 4 games being gacha/microtransaction heavy, bravo Sony. No wonder why they want GAAS so much.

Sony just recently established a major Chinese division for game development and the demographics between Asia and Japan are not a whole lot different when it comes to what game genres they desire.
It's true Genshin has brought lots of profit. However, there's no info which platform (phones, PC or playstation) and I doubt PS being the most popular platform in Asia or even in China. It's either PC or phones due to how their gaming culture is heavily built upon PC cafe/bang with F2PMMO games being the most popular thing.
Apparently, someone doesn't remember the whole console ban in China, which is a big reason for tons of crappy Chinese MMOs in the first place.
For China and Korea, it's also easier for them to do gaming restriction with PC bang and real ID.

Games like Apex Legends are popular in both Japan, Korea, and China as is stuff like Genshin.
"Games like Apex Legends", you mean one of the big three BR beside PUBG and Fortnite? With Fornite is not approved in China, PUBG is used to buy to play rather than Apex being F2P at the start and yet PUGB still has more players than Apex on Steam, despite only going F2P January this year.

Considering there's PUBG mobile has been going on for awhile and now Apex has their own mobile version is released last month.

No mention of Playstation, just in general "console"

On South Korea side.

Apex doesn't even appear on the top 10 list.
For Korea top mobile games.

Yeah, BR genre isn't that much liked in Korea much, it's the MMORPG kind.

What I'm trying to say here, you know nothing and overestimate Apex Legends popularity in Asia. Apex is only the most popular in Japan as BR games. Meanwhile PUBG is actually the most popular for overall Asia, Free Fire is probably the 2nd most popular BR on mobile device beside PUBG.

Also, there is no actual statistic which platform in Apex has the most players. Do you know that even Japanese pro players use MnK in tournament, not controller? Go search for Team Unite, V3 Vega and Gamewith on youtube, you should be able to find it. How to know someone is on console or using controller, they have a different icon at player info screen.
Apex.png
And unironically, because job as Vtubers, all of them use PC playing Apex.

The problem with BOTW combat is that there is not a whole lot of variety to the monsters. The way combat handles is fine but you could say it's like Monster Hunter, if you fight the same thing over and over(including recolors).
You should stop comparing games to Monster Hunter. Dark Souls, Pathless, Horizon and now this. You are starting to sound like the people who never ever read any book beside Harry Potter or people who have never ever play any games beside Overwatch, and comparing everything to OW.

Since you love MonHun that much, I haven't seen any your comment about Rise, which makes me doubt that you even own a Switch or an actual PC to play the game.
I don't even think you even have a PC to play the game, because you don't even know PC port for MonHun World in Japan. Or know something about Steam.

It's action rpg fluff with a dumbed down combat system. You could win FF15 by holding down one button and this will be no different. Square doesn't even bother releasing experimental stuff like Centennial Case in the West because they know it won't sell with the normies that buy their swill now.

Centennial Case was released in the west.

Which this plays really no different from Life is Strange which Square also bothered to keep.

It only gives you fucking shock arrows to blow stuff up, which involves the method of "puzzle solving" that is "point at thing and click button". The only other one is just stopping stuff from moving at a specific time. Swapping to the blades to hit a bush or carry something isn't a puzzle.

You can't skip any of the boring as fuck climbing sections that take up like 20% of the game, or any of the time waiting for the retard kid to throw you a chain to climb up because apparently the god who can flip entire temples upside down can't jump up a few feet in the same fucking game.
