President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that the United States will impose sanctions “far beyond” the ones that the United States imposed in 2014 following the annexation of the Crimean peninsula.

“This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” Biden said in a White House speech, signaling a shift in his administration’s position. “We will continue to escalate sanctions if Russia escalates,” he added.

Russian elites and their family members will also soon face sanctions, Biden said, adding that “Russia will pay an even steeper price” if Moscow decides to push forward into Ukraine. Two Russian banks and Russian sovereign debt will also be sanctioned, he said.

Also in his speech, Biden said he would send more U.S. troops to the Baltic states as a defensive measure to strengthen NATO’s position in the area.

Russia shares a border with Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered troops to go into the separatist Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine after a lengthy speech in which he recognized the two regions’ independence.

Western powers decried the move and began to slap sanctions on certain Russian individuals, while Germany announced it would halt plans to go ahead with the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

At home, Biden is facing bipartisan pressure to take more extensive actions against Russia following Putin’s decision. However, a recent poll showed that a majority of Americans believe that sending troops to Ukraine is a “bad idea,” and a slim minority believes it’s a good one.

All 27 European Union countries unanimously agreed on an initial list of sanctions targeting Russian authorities, said French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and EU foreign affairs head Josep Borell claimed the package “will hurt Russia … a lot.”

Earlier Tuesday, Borell asserted that Russian troops have already entered the Donbas region, which comprises Donetsk and Lugansk, which are under the control of pro-Russia groups since 2014.

And on Tuesday, the Russian Parliament approved a Putin-back plan to use military force outside of Russia’s borders as Putin further said that Russia confirmed it would recognize the expanded borders of Lugansk and Donetsk.

“We recognized the states,” the Russian president said. “That means we recognized all of their fundamental documents, including the constitution, where it is written that their [borders] are the territories at the time the two regions were part of Ukraine.”

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Putin said that Ukraine is “not interested in peaceful solutions” and that “every day, they are amassing troops in the Donbas.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday morning again downplayed the prospect of a Russian invasion and proclaimed: “There will be no war.”

“There will not be an all-out war against Ukraine, and there will not be a broad escalation from Russia. If there is, then we will put Ukraine on a war footing,” he said in a televised address.

The White House began to signal that they would shift their own position on whether it’s the start of an invasion.

“We think this is, yes, the beginning of an invasion, Russia’s latest invasion into Ukraine,” said Jon Finer, the White House deputy national security adviser in public remarks. “An invasion is an invasion and that is what is underway.”

For weeks, Western governments have been claiming Moscow would invade its neighbor after Russia gathered some 150,000 troops along the countries’ borders. They alleged that the Kremlin would attempt to come up with a pretext to attack, while some officials on Monday said Putin’s speech recognizing the two regions was just that.

But Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters Tuesday that Russia’s “latest invasion” of Ukraine is threatening stability in the region, but he asserted that Putin can “still avoid a full blown, tragic war of choice.”

I mean he might as well just nuke the section altogether. I'm okay with that since the Thunderdome is just filled with faggots.
Well 50% are probably gonna fuck off back to /pol/ if that happens. The other half are gonna go shit up Community Watch or something.
Anything remotely politically related is going to drop the IQ in the room by a couple dozen points regardless.

Seeing claims that Sieverodonetsk is actually a trap by Ukrainians to force Russia into trying to hold it while suffering losses, meaning they're exactly where Ukrainians want them.
Dunno if true or cope, but sorta makes sense, iirc Ukrainians have elevated positions outside the city with artillery that can target it.

Ignore really helped to catch up with the thread without having to plow through retarded slop. Highly recommended.

I need to rescue the Meghan and Ginger thread before that happens.

To stay on topic:

Russia now appears to have the initiative over Ukraine in the battle for the Donbas, in the country's east, the UK's Ministry of Defence has said.
On the war's 100th day, the UK said Russia holds 90% of the Luhansk region - half of the Donbas - and is likely to complete control of it in two weeks.
It said these tactical successes had been achieved "at significant resource cost" with the concentration of forces.
But it said none of Russia's original war objectives had been achieved.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Moscow's forces are now in control of 20% of Ukrainian territory, with a front line that extends for more than 1,000 km (621 miles).
On Thursday, Nato Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Western nations must be prepared to support Ukraine over the long haul, as the conflict becomes a "war of attrition".

Girkin is crying that Ukrianians are shelling Donetsk suburbs that had not been attacked previously. Which is weird considering the official line is that Ukraine has been shelling Donetsk for 8 years straight, day and night

Bitching and moaning about this place is fine(good even), but you're the last person who should do it. You're just mad people don't agree with you, if they were annoying fags on your side you would sing a different tune.

Not really, no. I can disagree with some opinions here and agree with others and still see how the entire board has become a cesspool, where the most unfunny parts of 4chan are being recreated.

I forgot how much Donbas offensive goes on, but it's not linear effort. Both sides need to rotate troops and take a breather at some point. This "two weeks" has become a meme in itself.

Liberation of DNR/LNR was a hard goal for Putin since it was the original excuse that started it all.

Well, that's not just some Britbong, it's THE Britbong, probably the highest profile they have. Given how Kayrovites love to put bounty on their opponents heads, this should be fun for intelligence agencies.

no im just going to reject them and say sorry nothing i can do
I like this policy. Mass reporting is peak catboy behavior and should not be rewarded, especially when the ignore function exists. 90% of the appeal of A&N is watching retards get into slap fights anyway - it's basically become the Jerry Springer of boards. Anyone that the current state of A&N doesn't appeal to has left to other boards, 4Chan, or a private discord server.
In the meantime: get some powertripping retard to moderate this place and ignore any complaints about said powertripping retard janny.
I unironically nominate @Hollywood Hulk Hogan because ya'll know that'd be fucking hilarious. He'd openly shit on the mass reporting Fabergé Eggs, ruthlessly eliminate pedonigger shit, and will add hilarious moderator notes to the posts of people he gets into arguments with instead of going ban crazy.

Only way I would consider it is if Null would give me permission to fuck with people as I see fit. I highly doubt he would allow that, nor would I if I were in his shoes, as mod abuse isn't something a forum should allow.

But man it'd be fun to troll A&N as a mod

Seversteel is the largest steel factory in Russia. Apparently warehousing and inventory runs on US made software. It's back to pencil and paper.

No powerleveling, but keeping track of shit in a warehouse for a large steel plant can be PITA. The amazeballs moment is that with all Russian programmers abroad, how the fuck do you really need NATO software to run your biggest, strategic factory.

Moscow, RIA News. Severstal was disconnected from American software 20 min after declaration of new sanctions from USA, spoke Yuri Mordashev.

We have 2-4 years to find a solution, but no more. We need a plan that allows us to inventory our needs, to let us know what products are not stocked at our warehouses.

The problem is people keep replying to the zigger and his spam. Refuting his nonsense, and he's back to CIA, CIA like the special asperger that he is. The Ukrainians appear to have simply took a village called Metolkine which Russians were using to supply their advance into the city so they fell back a bit and Lyschan'k is both on an elevation and behind a river too.

Denys Davydov thinks this is a positive day for Ukraine:

Still it's a slow grind.

There really are some retards in Russia, a proper set of fetal alcohol syndrome babies. NATO came into existence because of the Soviet menace, which Russia is trying in some pathetic way to replicate. How could they not prepare for this? Presumably they just didn't want to pay a programmer. NATO country software was turnkey, easy. More time to browse yachts for sale, or whatever.

I would advise all of you who are replying to this vatnik to use the ignore button.
It is not worth your time and braincells.
Instead, focus on what this thread is about. The invasion.
AP have published an article where they talk about how Russia after 100 days, may deicede to stay in Ukraine for way longer then what they said at the start.

Putin's axing more of his top guys amid the war not going as well as he'd hoped:

Given the state of the war and the Russian army at this time, it looks like Putin unwittingly saved those men's lives.
