You know, I'd have considered this generally unrealistic and asking too much of any company whose country is locked down.

But then Oliver Evans shows up in Paris which could've only really happened if he signed it off as a work venture (I think they actually joked about it on stream too). The difference is that one is outgoing and the other is incoming, and one doesn't require the reservation of a studio, so I'm sure it's less about securing papers and more to do with the logistics of getting everything to align properly.

I also feel like something that gets overlooked are the talents themselves. Ame/Kiara has a zoo that probably needs house-sitting to look after, Gura has her cat and whatever animal shelter work coverage needs to be arranged, Ina is fucking dead and also has other contractual obligations and Calli is jetsetting around the world with double lives.

Wanting something and being able to do it are completely different things. Not saying that there isn't any Cover incompetence involved but remember there's probably more than one factor in any decisions made.

It's not anything about them being "timid" it's the fact that it's literally not possible for them to get work visas for the talents. Hololive members are contractors not employees of the company and japanese labor laws are the root cause of that.

I mean I'm sure Oliver being a citizen played a huge role there. along with it being as you said, outgoing instead of incoming.
Think about the fact that someone like Pewdiepie with all the fuck you money he has at his disposal and the incentive that bringing all that money into Japan has to offer the Japanese government.

Only managed to finally get into Japan a month ago when he's been trying to move there for several years now at this point.
If millions of dollars didn't grease the wheels of the Japanese immigration machine. it's no wonder that the Japanese government is being a pain in the ass when it's "let some gaijin come in so they can dance on the internet as anime girls"


Similarly Geexplus (company that owns trash taste) only managed to finally bring in new hires from outside of Japan in the last month or two as well, and they have Kadokawa backing.
