Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

legit the only good thing in the game was the facial capture technology. the rest is mediocre at best and straight up trash at worst.
saints row 2 is a better open game than cp77

You know what really frustrates me about this game? When V is being a dirtbag criminal and solving every issue with extreme violence this game is fun as fuck. It's everything surrounding The relic, Johnny, Arasaka that sucks ass.

Why wasn't this just an amoral psychopath simulator from the beginning? It would have been cool, people would have liked it.

The main plot is too linear, too rail-roaded so there is little room to role-playing. You can kind of tell Johnny to eat shit but the game tries to push you into caring about him, its obvious how the devs intended you to play. I didn't mind johnny as much as most people seem to, but with the narrative they went with the game would probably have played better with hub areas like Deus Ex. As it is, you're told you're going to die quickly then you fuck off to clear gang areas for the next 50 hours. It really just doesn't mesh well.

A more free form plot that allowed you to pursue your main objective would have been much better, and allow you to immerse yourself better into the world. Thats what I had assumed the corpo, street kid and nomad paths had originally alluded to. You align with corpo, you use corporate methods to achieve your objectives, climb the ladder, etc.

Would have been cool to become a corporate exec, street gang leader, or control your own group of nomads.

Yeah, the more I play the more disjointed and disconnected the main plot feels from the rest of the world. I just want to enact vigilante justice with my bro, Takemura.

I don't buy the idea that Silverhand was a late addition - or added purely due to Keanu - but you can almost see where multiple writers were fighting against one another.

Really, I just want a cyberpunk game where you can actually stick with a Corporation for a change, and be the oppressor rather than a plucky rebel bucking the system.

I'm on my 3rd playthrough. I'm getting burnt out doing all the side content, just like my 1st run, because there are no avenues for fighting creatively. Either I hold W key and M1 or hide in a corner. I don't mind turning my brain off and shooting stuff but whenever I die in the middle of a Hustle I just swap games because my mind does get numb due to how dull the game is. I prefer my Watch Dogs 1 experience to this game. The worst part about this game is whenever I walk past a highway and there are no cars on it. Does not make one iota of sense for Night City's highways to be desolate, especially on the Next-gen version.

And the story is so short that I have to do the side content if I want to play the game, like what? GTA V's story got to the point where I'd go "BRO?! THERE'S MORE? I THOUGHT I WAS FINISHED!" Complete opposite here.

I could have sworn one of the rumors of the original plot was you went psycho, got rebooted and then you get recruited to hunt them down or something. I don't know if that ever actually was the plot, but it is a rumor I recall.

Yea the very first trailer seemed to hint at that but not sure if it was official. I mean finding out what was causing Cyberpsychosis or at least one form of it sounds more interesting instead of what we got.

i swear if this ends up being a better cyberpunk game...

Yeah but that's what happens when you retool your entire narrative to fit Keanu Reeves and rely on Star Power to sell your shitty product. The most involvement Silverhand should of had in Cyberpunk 2077 was news reports about the Firestorm Shockwave events from CyberPunk 2020 and maybe an obscure Easter Egg where you find the top-half of his corpse in a crazy fan's fridge.

It pains me to see how much effort Pondsmith put into the Cyberpunk timeline and lore, just for CDPR to come along and fuck up even the most basic of it all. There's barely any explanation for people who are fans of the source material & they just outright handwave the best parts of the fiction. Bozos aside, those guys are a hoot. I would love to see the contract between R.T and CDPR because there's got to be some legalese here that gives CDPR free reign to do whatever they want.

Stick to the fantasy genre, CDPR, you can at-least bibbity boppity your way out of these kind of fuck ups.

Pondsmith was on board with every decision, mate. In fact I think he pushed for Keanu.

But you're not a dirtbag criminal. You're running around blasting gang members for the NCPD, rescuing people from gangs, etc. The only remotely criminal stuff you do is helping out Lizzie Wizzie, especially when you dump the body for her, and a few other missions that are grimy but not bad bad. There's just the one big heist, but you don't repeat anything like that. You never rob random people, or set up protection rackets, or deal drugs, or knock over a bank, or... The Courier in New Vegas is far more of a criminal low life than V, what with helping a corrupt quartermaster run a trafficking ring, running drugs for the Khans, and potentially even helping the Omertas chlorine gas the Strip.

I never, EVER get hyped for games. CP2077 remains the only game I have ever pre-ordered in my life (first and last). Classic combo of being sold on both cyberpunk setting and being a huge fan of Witcher series.

But exactly what you said - alarm bells were ringing when the RPG tag was dropped. I knew the writing was on the wall at that point.
I lost interest as soon as they announced Keanu in the game. Ever since he had his granny girlfriend he started to be in various things which seemed odd for someone as low profile as him.
No hate against the dude per se, but he can’t act for shit. He as a voice actor??? Granted he doesn’t sound like a monotone faggot like critical, but Keanu as a voice actor? I weep for any good VA that got replaced by him.
Fuck Hollywood actors that can’t voice act for shit. This should’ve been obvious at this moment.

So did anyone at that time, CD Project Red and Studio Trigger, who wanted to make an anime based on their upcoming "hit" game Cyberpunk 2077.
Because they were so convinced the game would be a huge success, but the complete opposite turned out to be the case, and they kept silent for years because of how shit the game was.
Well, as it turns out, the amine is coming soon in September.

I honestly thought they would've quietly pulled the plug on this after the 2077 shitstorm.

My myriad of issues with the mess of a woke production of this game and this is on Netflix of all places?
Hard pass.
