Words & Phrases DSP Has Invented or Misuses - DSP'isms that make you say "HUUUHN?!?"

And he's still going to take all the tips, membership money and superchats that he gets on the stream. But the ads will mean something. Sure Phil, whatever lets you sleep in the morning.
The thumbnail for today's cope stream has them in it.

This post really isn’t about Phil’s made up words, but more about a really weird verbal tick I’ve noticed.

Has anyone else noticed over the last several months that when Phil says a word that has a hard “T” sound in it (he mostly does this during prestream when he’s trying to act all “professional”) he’ll over-exaggerate the word and say it very… what’s the word to describe it?…. dainty?

Especially when he says “Twitter”, it’s like “twit-TER”

I have no idea where he gets these little random verbal and physical quirks that come out of nowhere. The only explanation for it for me is that he thinks it makes him sound more professional, but it makes me cringe every time he does it.

Can anyone tell me why he is using the word "stupendous" whenver he makes etxra begging calls / videos? I am not sure if that word is actually appropriate when asking for extra help. I thought great would be ok but imho stupendous would not be a good choice of words. Probably tries to sound more educated or something stupid like that

He's trying to avoid drunk slurring.

Narcissists often start using words that they hear, usually from people they respect, and start using them themselves without ever looking up what the hell it means. They try to figure out what the word means through context but lower IQ narcs like our boi Phil think that the word has the same meaning as a word that sounds similar. The most recent example would be him using thus in place of this. An older example would be him thinking that inclusive and exclusive have the same meaning.

In reference to taking allergy pills, paraphrasing a bit though.

"I knew I would be on stream for a while today so I took my allergy meds. I'm medicated now."

Never in my life did I think I would hear a grown adult refer to over the counter allergy pills as being medicated.

"Allergy pills" are a cover for gin. He drank his meds to stave off the DTs, so he's medicated now!

As well as “penultimate”. For the longest time, Phil thought that meant “the very best”.

WWE made liberal use of the word "stupendous" to market Wrestlemania this year.

But we all know Phil doesn't watch that stuff anymore.

Oh yeah he's absolutely heard someone use it recently and attached himself to it bigtime. He thinks it's another word for 'explain' and it's really insufferable hearing him use it.
This is something that narcissists do that I only found out last week. I decided to check out some of the people whose clips were used in the Reclusive in Renton video (which is a banger of a video btw) and stumbled upon this one.
I timestamped the part relevant to this, but the whole video is really good. The part I timestamped in particular was a revelation to me, before that I thought that he did things like use "inclusive" to mean "exclusive" because he did some weird autistic word combination thing, so in- from insular and -clusive from exclusive formed "inclusive." Another example is back when he misused compiled to mean a combination of com- from compounded and piled as in the phrase "piled up." Turns out he simply used those words incorrectly just because it sounded similar to another word that he knows. From the video I found the "etiological means something similar to eating" example the psychologist gave hilarious. It sounds like something DSP would misuse in the same way while doing a Feeding with the Pig. Mmmmmm that dish I'm eating is so etiological and flavorful! :story:

I think the real question here is, why doesn't he do it every day since he's allegedly acknowledging it's a problem and he knows what the solution is.

Great find! Explains his use of terms such as "penultimate" and "figurehead", and could explain him using fancy words to impress the dents (does this even work?)

Any clue where he heard it? My guess is tractor circles.

Makes me wonder if we can subtley troll Phil by using big words incorrectly so he starts using them.

I asked about this on the mainthread a little while ago. Apparently Phil thinks allergy pills can be addictive and is afraid of getting addicted to them, which is just ironic considering he is an addict to gin and gacha.

Ah. So the pig translation would be 'I don't have enough money for that addiction too'

Pretty much. I'm sure there is some traumatizing story he can cook up about why he doesn't take allergy pills regularly, just like the story he has for why he doesn't knoe how to ride a bike.

The one that annoys me is "that being said", which he uses incorrectly every five minutes on the prestream lately. It's a cliche' phrase that could be used, for example, as a transition: You discuss option A and its good points but, that being said, you're sticking with option B. Phil uses "that being said" randomly after rambling about whatever, not to contrast with what follows. It's minor but when he says it wrong a dozen times a prestream it gets a little old.

Of course the grand champion is "just being honest" but since he literally stated that it doesn't really mean he's going to be honest, the trolls were proven correct on that one.
