It's about a bunch of dopplegangers 'alternates' that are roaming a place called Mandela County. They can read people's fears and use them to make humans commit suicide in minecraft. Also Jesus and Gabriel may have been replaced by alternates.

Just watch Wendigoon's video on it if you want details, I think it's kinda long though. But ARGs tend to suck and at least Wendigoon is good at explaining them.

I'm honestly going to have to be extremely impressed with the creator if it turns out the alternate monster at the end there was actually a practical marionette instead of CGI. The way it moves makes me think of that, and I kinda dig it.
I like the idea of having religious figures being usurped by alternates and causing that "Mandela" effect, but outside of that, I don't see what's so great about the series. The Zoomers who're super into it clearly have never been freaked out by anything in their lives if this is the scariest thing they've ever seen.

Huh, that would be really cool!
Local 48 was ruined for me by the dumb flash animation skeleton cartoon episode. It was so out of place for the "analogue horror" thing. Practical effects would be a good solve for not actually being able to replicate an old cartoon look.

I hadn’t heard of Nightfair or Sagan Hawkes but now I’m gonna check em out.
I’d definitely add Atrocity Guide. I wish she would upload more often but I’m always willing to wait cause her shit is quality. Her video on The Secret: A Treasure Hunt is an all-time fav of mine, while I’m not planning on digging any holes myself it definitely got me interested in the topic and its Internet presence.

I'm a couple minutes into the new Mandela Catalog video and the voice acting continues to be the weakest part. With how much effort the dude puts into making parts look like VHS, at times he sure doesnt try to make voice recordings sound like it. The policeman speech part just sounds like he paid some dude on fiver to make a somber speech in his bedroom then put it to the video without making it match the video. Its just jarring.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about Local 48! I really enjoyed it otherwise but that booboo skeleton animation really took me out of the experience.
If there's one thing I am a bit autistic about its muh old timey animation.

Being someone who actually knows about Christianity helps with that. The more content creators tend to screech about the evils of Christianity and Christians, the less they tend to actually know about it. You can name the amount of ones who have read more than one sentence of the Bible on one hand.

Idk if Local 48 predated that idea but upon viewing I half expected it to be a copy of that bullshit with the skelly getting MORE AND MORE DERANGED OH NOES the farther he walked
For real tho, I feel like the Local 48 guy could have accomplished the same story beat using deftly edited clips from ACTUAL old cartoons. Really felt like a huge cop out compared to the other videos in the series.
