Cartoon Industry thread - Showcasing the Spergery of the Animation Industry

Daily reminder that same guy who made Too Loud and Ollie & Scoops used to be a suck up for the creator of Ren & Stimpy.

From 2008-2018, Nico hanged out with him before he was called out for the Katie Rice & Robin Byrd accusations .

Here's him in a commercial with Kricfalusi for the 2008 presidential campaign.

(Exerpt from Nico's interview with Animation Insider)
In your travels, have you had any brushes with animation greatness?
"I’ve been pretty lucky to meet a lot of fantastic artists and make the amount of friends that I have. John K has had me over his house many times for parties and if I had to choose, he’s the #1 person who made me want to be in animation, so I feel incredibly lucky about that." - Nico Colaleo (2015)

He only threw him under the rug during the year he got exposed as a pedophile.

It goes without saying that in the western cartoon industry that practically everyone either knew or knew someone who knew that John K was a degenerate pedophile. He was only publicly exposed in 2018 when Buzzfeed decided to do actual journalism for a day.

Whenever western animation twitter dunks on someone for saying the term Cal-Arts style (or critiquing/criticizing the cartoons made in that style) because John K coined that term remember that it was an open secret in his industry who he really was and people either protected him or stayed silent.

Something about this tweet doesn't feel right....

P.S. Ollie and Scoops isn't a good show

Check his hard drives. This is an extra red flag on top of the usual assumption that lefties in the animation industry are all deviants anyway. This just gives us a clue about what his particular perversion is.

I wouldn't be surprised if that guy "discovers his glitter soul" (aka, troons out) sometime soon....

Considering he made one of his characters come out as a Troon

It wouldn't surprise me if he did...

P.S. Jeffrey is also voiced by Colaleo himself
Holy shit this animation is bad, and so sloppy. I keep catching the colouring being outside the lines. You'd think this was done by one amateur youtuber.

South Park did it, South Park did it.

Shit, the amount of creepy fanart for 'Marjorine' that came up in an image search. What bowel of hell did I stumble across?

Yeah, South Park has had a massive fujo audience in the west and Japan for years. To be fair to them not all are shota fans, but all of them want to watch the boys to fuck.
The Craig x Tweek episode is a direct reference to them.
I thought they were making fun of fujos in general I had no idea the fandom had that much of a problem. I don't get it, it's not like the south park style has any sex appeal to it. What the actual fuck?

Fractured But Whole also has yaoi art sidequests alongside Tweek and Craig having a fully animated anime style move where their clothes rip off and they nearly kiss, and Phone Destroyer does anime style yaoi promo art for Tweek and Craig. They really leaned into cashcowing that audience.

Disney wants nothing to do with traditional 2d stuff because it's costly and too slow. Details elude me but there's a story about some 2d film they deliberately sabotaged so it would perform poorly as an excuse to axe all of their 2d studios and make the switch to just 3d stuff only.
Home On the Range.
