You know, there is usually a point in Turkish politics where the military is supposed to stage a coup against presidents edging too close to theocratic Neo-Ottomanism in the name of preserving the Kemalist democracy, but that failed with Erdogan, and now Europe suffers for it.
There was a coup in 2017 directly to prevent this. It failed sadly. It doesn't help the EU basically forced the Turkish constitutional clause legitimizing coups against Islamists dominance to be removed from my understanding. The EU shot itself in the foot and now had to enjoy the lovely monster they made in Erdogan.
I'm not going to change from my policy of calling it Turkroachistan.
