You got to remember that its never been about actually protecting the environment. All these people pushing environmentalism are either trying to make big bank and or sociopaths trying to grab as much power as they can. I mean this is a entire industry, look at all the media, products, and other stuff that money is being pumped into. This shit keeps people employed, just think about all the jobs that come with business that are selling this BS. Not just scientist/experts/researchers, but armies of of people ranging from management to janitors that employed because of this. The environment is a business and it has one of the best marketing campaigns ever put together.
That's the Iron Law of Institutions for ya. People care more about their grift within the organization rather than the organization's stated mission.

Whats that gasoline powered cars are destroying the environment and we need to replace it all with EV's? Good thing every auto manufacturer is starting to put out more and more electric models. Wait wouldn't that mean every vehicle on the road right now would need to eventually be sold off and every single driver would be forced to pay out the ass for a new vehicle? Huh well never mind that!
We need to get off oil/gas/coal power before its too late! I mean sure technically renewables are getting billions in funding while having the government put the screws to competition via regulations. That is just a coincidence, besides its for the greater good! Any suffering is for that greater good! And you want to be on the side of good right?

On the flip side some of them just want to take what powers they can away from the average person bit by bit. They fucking hate you, they want you living in a powerless thatch hut like the peasant you are. Do you honestly think your greta thunberg and billy gates or whoever are going to suffer for the cause? Fuck no they will be eating the finest cut of steak while sipping on the most robust wines straight from the nicest water sucking vineyards of California in a private plane while you are chewing on a rock hard maggot flavored nutrient block in your cement pod. The money helps, but seeing you suffer is the biggest benefit.

When people point out that there aren't enough rare earth minerals in the crust of the Earth for everyone who has a gasoline car to drive electric instead, Klaus Schwab says, "Yes, and?"

You will eat the bug. You will live in a pod. And no, you will not drive a Tesla.

The actual solution to police violence is to improve access to therapy and mental health care for police. Being a cop is one of the most stressful jobs imaginable because it isolates people from mainstream society and the only people they trust are other police, who also have strong taboos against acknowledging any weakness. It's a pressure cooker environment designed to drive people nuts.

People have tried to draw attention to this including Norm Stamper the former Seattle police chief and John Violanti, a former cop who became a doctor in order to treat police with psychological problems because they couldn't trust anyone but another cop to talk about their peoblems. There's no way progress can be made on this issue now because ACAB has poisoned the well so completely, so now police are stuck in their pressure cooker subculture with no escape.

This well-poisoning effect has been understood for some time, a sociologist named Gary Kleck wrote about this concerning gun rights. He found, from a study of pro- and anti-gun rights literature, that there was so much negativity and acrimony around the gun issue, mainly from anti-gun writers accusing gun owners of being psychotic, bloodthirsty and sexually warped, that it was impossible for the two sides to have a conversation and thus the issue would remain a permanent political dividing line.

Nobody's actually discovered a way to police blacks without using force, not in Brazil, not in the Dominican Republic, not in Africa, and not here. You know that "15 do 50" statistic? Applies to police homicides, too.

Has Joe Scarborough always looked like a lightbulb with hair?

Being a somewhat social liberal and definite fiscal conservative is a challenging place to be. Taking care of the environment, reduce/reuse/recycle (yeah I know recycling isn't what they claim it is but at the very least it gives me pause when I throw things away), judicial reform/police training and mental health, healthcare for the most vulnerable populations, child protection, affordable housing--these are all causes I fully believe in. However, throwing money at the problems, or worse, escalating and making money off said problems, infuriates me. There's a way to solve these issues, or at least mitigate them/make inroads but the Greenies/Leftists and Republicans don't want to do that. I'm also Libertarianesque in that I believe the less bureaucracy, the better.

Worse is when I try to talk to either side about these concerns. The left accuses me of larping because I believe in fiscal responsibility, the right says I'm a climate/lefty nutjob because I'm concerned about social issues. I'm none of those things--I'm a realist. But there's no place for people who can see both sides of an issue in today's society.
Honestly, the whole reason for all of this is just... power. I doubt that either side wants a quarter of what they say they want, and really just says whatever they can use to keep their carefully tended garden of political extremists in line. Of course, this is all going to end in tears, but those with political power are famous for having little foresight and even less hindsight. Joe is a prime example of this, honestly.

Well a lot of my interest is actually in forensic science reforms and attempts to forestall conclusory investigations - its human nature to identify a suspect and then work to confirm that theory instead of considering the evidence and moving from the accepted theory if things don't fit. I also think that the way we prosecute has some bad incentives that focus on convictions instead of seeking truth or justice. Pre-conviction asset forfeiture is also bullshit, as is the expansion of what constitutes a felony, including strict liability offences.
Its a hefty list of places that can be improved, I don't particularly care if cops put one or twenty-one bullets into some methed out criminal at 3 am.

This is why the only truly respectable organizations were those of the abolitionists. Slavery ends? time to shut down. Yes Frederick Douglass may have been right that the fight for equality needed to continue, but it shouldn't have happened under the auspices of an organization whose stated goal was accomplished.

Some shit needs to be strict liability, like statutory rape or selling alcohol to minors. If the conduct is inherently dangerous, you need to ensure people are extra careful when they act. That being said, there needs to be a stricter burden of proof for strict liability to offset the lack of an intent requirement.

I am shit posting right now as I work the local elections
Fucking old people voting blue
I get sick of people who agree with me on all key issues voting dem because their family is democrat. I'm from an area that was split during the civil war. Literally right on the line, so party is inherited and it dies hard.

Yup and worse still there voting blue just because well they have allways voted blue. no amount of information will sway them. Its frustrating knowing most of them vote based of what the news tells them to. Fuck just die faster please

How deaf, dumb and blind is this administration is when they keep tweeting that the economy is good? Are they really this out of touch or do they just don't care?

They managed to propagandize people into believing COVID-19 was piling up corpses in the streets, that losing control of the government in Kiev to Russia poses an existential threat to America, and that fairies appear at 4am to drop hundreds of thousands of ballots into people's laps, so they figure they can get people to believe that actually $5.00 gas is good!

Your not wrong

He murdered an intern he was banging. Yeah conspiracy theory. Except straight after the tragic accident, where she was found dead in his office with massive head trauma he resigned from Congress and went into hiding.

OK fact check, she didn't die of head trauma, she died of a heart attack and the skull fracture was a result of her hitting her head on the desk or something. A healthy 28 year old female with no family history of heart disease and no congenital issues dropping dead like this and also smashing her head open is totally plausible. Oh and then there's the fact that the autopsy was done by a struck off Florida MD who was later convicted of stealing body parts. Again completely normal.

The bitch is owned. He's the 'reasonable Republican' they roll out to tell boomer cons that opposing rainbow clown world means you're an extremist. He's way past his sell by date.
