Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS), who voted to create the Jan. 6 commission, is currently in 2nd place and heading for a runoff against Michael Cassidy with 8% of the vote in.

Another Republican Rep. from Mississippi, Steven Palazzo is also heading for a runoff. He's facing an ethics investigation for misusing campaign funds.
Guest is definitely going to a runoff with 58% of the vote in, although Cassidy came really close to outright winning at one point.

Steven Palazzo is in the gutter and also going to a runoff. I guess he'll be facing either Mike Ezell or Clay Wagner.

Zack Nunn won the Republican primary in Iowa's 3rd congressional district (held by a Democrat). Pollsters have moved it from Tossup to Lean R.

Also, Red Eagle Politics gets +1 for calling Chunk Yogurt a lolcow.

There are primaries/elections in seven states today - California, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota. Here are some of the highlights:
  • San Francisco prosecutor Chesy Boudin is facing a recall because he doesn't do his fucking job. No candidates running against him, just a simple 'yes I want him gone, no I don't want him gone' vote. The recent recall of a group of hysterically woke school board members in SF makes me slightly hopeful but not too much.
  • The Los Angeles mayoral race is obviously going to be won by a Democrat, the question is which one. Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) was once on Biden's list of potential VP picks, and there was also once an attempt to dethrone Pelosi and replace her with Bass, but that didn't pan out. Now she's fighting a bunch of other candidates including Rick Caruso, a billionaire who used to be a registered Republican and donated to Republicans. Caruso is running on a generic tough on crime platform and is also endorsed by Snoop Dogg.
  • Ryan Zinke, Trump's Secretary of the Interior is trying to get back into politics by running for the new House seat Montana gained this year.
  • Rep. David Valadao (R-CA), who voted to impeach Trump, is facing primary today. He has three challengers but Trump hasn't endorsed any of them and generally has kept quiet about Valadao. Fox News claims it's because Valadao isn't a diehard anti-Trumper like the others. Others suspect it's because the district is D+6*. The Republican Establishment has been spending money to prop up Valadao and make sure he wins his primary.
Valado is.... interesting. Fox News is right here, his vote for it was largely just the politics of his district requiring it. So Trump doesn't hold as much of a grudge against him.

I think what's being talked about here is just the normal Lithium safeties, and the fact that Tesla could override them if need be. The short of it for lurkers is that if you drain a lithium battery to an actual 0% charge, it'll probably be permanently dead. Batteries have safety controllers on them to prevent you from doing that (and prevent overcharging because lithiums will also happily explode if given a chance). I'm guessing Tesla or Must talked about 'unlocking' that extra capacity in an emergency. You'll ruin your 20k battery pack, but you might make it out of a shitty situation with the extra range.

If I recall the story correctly, Musk activated more mileage on Telsa in a Hurricane effected area. How he did this was, on that model there was two versions. One with a greater battery capacity that he sold for more. Since Teslas are sold in advanced though, he sold them, and then it worked out that it was cheaper to manufacture them all the same. He then use the software to artificially limit the range of the lower end one. So he was able to turn all those lower range models into the extended range ones temporarily, in a specific region, for people fleeing a hurricane.

It was the first step in me thinking Telsa's were kinda cool cars(something I'd have if I were rich and had another more sensible car) to Cyperpunk Dystopiamobiles.

Unfortunately Shellenberger didn't even come close to 2nd. I guess that's a lesson about candidates who get big social media followings and media coverage but no party behind them.

Michael Guest is back below 50% with 82% of the vote in. Apparently the reason he was suddenly leading was because of a tabluation error.

Valadao looks like he'll make it to the general election, being 7% ahead of his next closest Republican contender.

Chesa Boudin recall election still has no results in yet.

Well, that's good news... I guess not charging criminals doesn't pay dividends. Not even in San Fran.

This is the mail-in ballot btw.
There's no downside to that race. Either SF rebukes its own retards, or chooses to triple down on its fate.

Either way, the libs eat shit.

Does Boudin even have any support? He seems to have gotten absolutely zero mainstream support and appeared to have been hung out to dry by Pelosi.

Don’t know where to put this, so since this is an overall political thread at this point, I thought I would share:

This was a post in someone I follow’s Instagram story. Basically, we are now going full anti-gun pro-drag thanks to Texas.

Honestly, unpopular opinion here I am sure, but what I hate most about this stuff is that I know the consequences of these creepy larpers will only affect actual gays long term. The second this community gets set to flames, the second the new age dragsters will switch sides and be apart of the new popular culture.

Honestly, good on Florida and Texas for finally putting the foot down on this shit. Sadly though, this will be just another thing to rile the Dems.

Well, they either got blowback or realized this as a business plan just encourages pirates, but they only sell one skew on batteries now.

Kinda sounds like a damned if they do damned if they don't moment - Imagine the backlash when you turn around and give everyone who bought the more expensive car the middle finger by giving everyone else the same perk they paid extra for - That's the sort of thing that'll bring around lawsuits.

Teslas and smart devices are dystopian hellscape things though, I agree there. I cannot wait for the "everything networked, always reporting back" era of tech to die, and all I fear is what will replace it.
