For me it kind of clicked into place when I listened to the Discord "debate" in the OP and he mentions he lives in Brazil. Brazil is one of those countries where blackface and old-fashioned racial stereotyping is still accepted, or at least was accepted a lot more recently than it was in Europe and North America. There's also something about Brazilian art that always feels slightly "off" in the same way art by Russians and Indians does.

Probably because it's easier tbh. I'm not exactly going to do a full dive on examining his history and style but he doesn't seem to spend a lot of time rendering or cleaning up lines or anything like that. Again, could be wrong, but I think I've seen enough of at least a particular subset of his work.
