I mean, gender dysphoria is real, although we don't know what causes it and if it's a culture bound syndrome or something more generalized. People with it deserve treatment, whatever that might entail. However the evidence that all this hormonal and surgical shit helps people with GD is terrible. It's bizarre political pseudoscience.
I also would note that people with intersex disorders do not have higher rates of gender dysphoria. Growing up with (say) ambiguous genitalia is one of the few cases I'd sympathize with as far as trooning out, but alas, it seems like people with some goofy genital issue still know they're male or female, just with some annoying disorder. Trannyism is just a rich person's mental problem, like anorexia or cutting.

I find it funny that troons don't understand the backlash that is occurring now. If it had stayed "just let us be weird in our corner", there would have been some grumbling but normies would have been fine with it. Its the combination of the sports thing finally becoming an issue with the growth in troons in the mainstream (it was always actually a problem, but society could ignore it when the actual number of trans women athletes remained small), and the push for younger and younger trans self-identification, which both have come out of the insane push to remove any sort of gatekeeping to transition. (not to discount the active grooming, but its ridiculous how the standard went from doctors recommending a year living as the opposite sex, to just giving out titty skittles like candy). There's a flippancy to these permanent body modifications that makes normal people recoil, even without the actual gory details. If you tell a normal person that in 3 months he can have suppressed his testosterone, have his balls removed, and be scheduled for a flesh cavity installation in Thailand, then that person reacts with "what, that's crazy, you can't just let people do this without checking to see if it's really the best option, we don't let kids smoke till they're 18 but this we let them decide at 7?".
The argument went from being one of people with a severe obsessive mental illness that otherwise resisted treatment, to an argument that intense body modification is just something we should all be doing, and that's been in the space of like 5 years.
