Difference between Psychopathy and Sociopathy
I haven't said anything about which one I think Ralph is. My comment was just on the difference between the two, not an armchair diagnosis. The person I replied to said they don't think he's a sociopath because he is not charming, smart or cunning, you don't need to be either of those things to be a sociopath.

Psychopaths are (usually) the smart and charming ones, sociopaths are (usually) the openly unhinged ones. I'm willing to bet that Ralph is the sociopath.

ah so i was mixing them up. i know that (either psycho or socio depending on the next question)-paths are depicted as being overly intelligent and calm vs how they usually are in reality but idk if hollywood mixed up sociopath as the more collected ones or if that was my personal mix up only.

Yeah a lot of the differences are pretty minor so I don't blame you. The way I remember it is "psychopaths are born, sociopaths are built." Psychopaths get their issues from their genetics. Sociopaths like Ralph get their issues from their upbringing. Psychopaths don't feel any remorse for their actions because they are incapable of feeling remorse. Sociopaths feel a little remorse but don't usually express it due to then being taught not to, which is why I think Ralph indulges in drug abuse. To numb the guilt he may feel (how much there is up to debate).

I know based @Ken Jennings has a different perspective of what may be wrong with him. However, after the past couple months, I kind of have to disagree. I'm not a psychiatrist and any resident psychiatrist is welcome to scream at me for being retarded, but now my take is he is full on sociopath.

There's no such thing as Borderline Personality Disorder. If you've been diagnosed with that as a male, I'm sorry, but that's not it, and if you've been diagnosed with that as a woman, I'm sorry, but you need to come to terms with you just being a sociopath to a lesser degree than actual full-fledged ones.
I can imagine that the BPD diagnose has come about in the usual way, where psychiatrists are desperately looking for recognition within their field and has jumped on trying to explain why some women sociopaths are slightly more well-functioning than others with similar symptoms (of perhaps LESS well-functioning, I guess, since the further into narcissism and self-aggrandizement you get, the more you're able to not give a shit and focus entirely on you, which would explain you being more cognizant of your sociopathic behavior affecting others around you as someone with so-called "BPD".)

Also, women with "BPD" are scum and should be treated with pure aggression, manipulation to counter theirs as well as beatings to put them in their place.

The Rule of Exception, if you will. The deviation is more frightening because it isn't as common or as understood as the norm. It is possible to have a psychopath who is a raving lunatic and a sociopath who is calm and calculating (as far as my understanding is concerned), but they are very rare and almost unheard of.

Psychopaths are like Jeffrey Dahmer. Their whole emotional reward/punishment system is fucked, so they don’t feel weird or bad about killing animals, or drilling holes in people’s heads to try to make them into fuck-zombies.

Sociopaths are like.. think compulsive liar. Lots of abusive/manipulative bullshit, constant passive-aggressive gamesmanship. I personally think Ralph is not so much a full on sociopath, but just someone who is driven crazy by how much work it takes to distract from self loathing. All the shit he puts outward is a cope and an excuse not to clean his own ass up. Throw on the drugs and booze, and it can LOOK like a sociopath at times, but trust me. Doesn’t reach the bar.

I understand your argument. When I say that psychopaths are "smarter" I meant to say that they are better at impulse control than the sociopaths. I suppose that I could have picked a better word. They can keep their shit in check better than sociopaths. They usually don't go full retard at the slightest provocation. They keep some in reserve. When Ralph goes retard mode, he goes Full Retard Mode. There is nothing held back. Psychopaths can (mostly) keep a low profile.

I don't think you can really fix the retardation Ralph has by depriving him of his vices. His brain is so fucked up that any difference made will be almost impossible to distinguished from what we have now. I mean, he fucking strangled a dog when he was in third grade (allegedly) and if that yearbook picture is any indication viewed his mother as an enabler from a young age.
