There was a whole war that happened over in r/Egypt because the mods changed the subreddit's icon and banner for Pride. Egypt is a Muslim majority country and even Christians share the same beliefs towards LGBTQ+ and other social issues. Suffice to say it didn't go well at all. Just one day into the change and the whole subreddit got flipped upside down. The mods eventually reverted the subreddit banner and icon again in I think a day? Not sure but it didn't last that long.

This is the only version of the banner I can find the third pyramid had the Egyptian flag. I was very confused when I saw the trans flag you can see the colors again in the subreddit icon. Most users didn't recognize it judging by the comments and memes.

To give some context: Initially r/Egypt represented a very small and open minded community of Egyptians. Some where diaspora and others are just privileged, for a while this subreddit allowed many Egyptians to speak freely and openly about many topics from religion to politics to sexuality. The subreddit was essentially an echo chamber really. As the subreddit grew it attracted more Egyptians and naturally the opinions of the average Egyptian started reflecting upon the subreddit.
1654562248800.pngAs previously stated, the participants of this subreddit are very privileged but will deny this privilege so luckily for you guys the posts are all in English! Both homophobic and pro-LGBTQ+ posts! Usually homophobic posts are in Arabic. Anyway enjoy.

Anyway should come to no surprise that the mods are sharing a discord server!

Same icon again, the mods are trying to separate the "good" users from the "bad users" and essentially create an echo chamber since their subreddit can't function as that.

First thing I see in the server, amazing.

Most of the discussion is obviously in English because the participants are either diaspora or privileged. Any Arab that can speak a second language is privileged. Any Arab that can speak English well enough to use reddit is privileged. Any Arab that can speak English well enough to be on discord that is clearly in English? Privileged.

Not even diaspora, I'm betting that most of them are just white liberal troons who like to virture signal and impose their troonery on the average Egyptian. Of course it'll backfire on them and it's hilarious :story:

I wanna fuck your Reddit avatar
Not my screenshot, I wouldn't bother with the self censor line.
Well I, for one, am all for sterilizing Redditors. Although the trannie jannies and pedos who run the site seem to be doing a good enough job of that themselves.
A campaign of free estrogen, needles, and party city wigs would devastate the Reddit Nu-male population.

Actually the whole idea of /Egypt being at least a bit representative of real Egypt is hillarious just as with any other country which population barely speaks English. The core of those communities are educated westernised upper class people who often do not even live in those countries but consider themsevles "Egyptian" because POC bonus points they receive in western countries they actually live. In reality Egypt is super poor (hence religious) country which population doesn't know the words "Reddit" and "LGBT".

I suspect that it creates very biased understanding of what those countries really look like. Your common NPC who knows nothing of Egypt sees the rainbow flag in the sub and eventually we have another rearded take like "Islam and arabs are LGBT friendly unlike evil conservatives in Alabama".

There were a couple of lost Americans arguing that "there is more than 2 sex you UNEDUCATED BIGOTS!", I don't have screencaps unfortunately. Other than that most of the discussion surrounds homosexuality not trans shit.

That's why a significant amount of the users are upset that the sub has grown because it means more uneducated locals have joined and will pollute their echo chamber with different ideas, the horror.
I sympathize from wanting to run away from conservatives that believe you are a walking abomination but some of them really need to get pulled out of the echo chamber.

r/datingadvice might be my favorite subforum. Every thread goes exactly like this.

Op - "Where can I meet women if I have no luck on dating apps?"

reddit -" never ever speak to women without permission or approach them in real life, that's sexual assault/rape. Only use dating apps."

Op - "Uh I just said dating apps don't work for me."

reddit - wow" heckin yikes there guy, you sure have problems with women. Maybe you shouldn't date until you rid yourself of your toxic mindset."

(Thirty pages of calling the op an incel)

r/relationship_advice is on a similar note.

>"My wife cheated on me, and commited a paternity fraud. I can't look at the 2 yo boy
anymore. I know I'll resent him....etc"
>"wow OP, you're an AH. You raised him... etc"
oh and the obligatoy "go seek therapy"

Edit: With respect to the second post, the sexism and misogyny didn't bother him until he started facing it. Fascinating yet predictable. Love how he can use his man voice to stay avoid the trouble.
The OP of the first post got suspended I wonder why.
what exactly is stopping all these downtrodden and oppressed girl gamers from simply playing with each other and avoid interacting with all the toxic moids?
(besides tranny infiltration lmao)
