She's right that appearance is only one aspect of who we are as people, but she sounds awfully proud of having not taken the best care of her body. The reason being overweight is considered unattractive in our society is because it's unhealthy, and the fact that a swelling majority of the US population is falling out of shape is a serious problem that articles like this sweep under the rug. You don't have to be super-hot to be a decent human being, but obesity should not be glamorized any more than a smoking addiction or AIDS/HIV.

Thanks for your comment, [TyrannoNinja]. The point I was trying to convey isn't that I don't want to be seen as fat by others—it's that I don't want to look in the mirror and see myself as worthless because of my weight.
Your statement that being overweight is considered unattractive because it's unhealthy is something that's repeated over and over again by people who want to pass off their fat-shaming as concern. Frankly, I find it both condescending and uninformed.
I'm not going to give up on trying to love myself just because it makes you uncomfortable, but hey, thanks for stopping by.
