Yes, especially with the mainstreaming of the past few decades, there are parts of drag which are more like cosplay than anything else. Honestly that is also a type of autism I do not get, but I can at least appreciate the craft and artistry that goes into producing the costumes in either fandom. But troons are using drag queens as a vector to teach kids about all the transitioning nonsense. Even if the reaction is maybe over the top, it's not like there isn't a core issue that is real, especially given that many drag queens are now jumping on the non-binary train as a way of making themselves more special. Drag, which in a certain sense evolved from a send-up of gender norms in ballroom culture, is now being used to normalize the idea that effeminate men are actually not men. This is putting aside that fact that, like with pride, there's a bunch of kinky perverts who don't want to divorce the adult sexual elements from it despite wanting to include children. No one would say they should bring their kids to Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but that is the equivalent of what these kinky troons are arguing for. I have no idea if these "bans" are even happening, or if it's just culture war hyperventilating again, but the way to get concerned parents to feel ok is definitely not saying "you can't protect your kids from us".
