I think he gets it. It became harder and harder to control seethe once he was no longer riding on Medicare's coattails. It took a lot of effort to maintain relationships for the grift. He's realized that he can still make money giving into his desire to be a total cunt. Using kayfabe as an excuse to play the heel allows him to be the asshole he always was. The big difference is that not only are his words and actions genuine, but the consequences of them are too.
pl; as having been in a similar situation before, if i were them my biggest concern would be the rage pig trying to holler at my friends/coworkers or generally just people in my area. a restraining order would prevent him from going straight to jade’s work but doesn’t prevent much else.
