Like all the other corporations, the Tampa Bay Rays decided to show their "pride" by having their players attach rainbow logos to their jerseys and caps... if they wanted to. As you might expect, a few completely rational players said, "Nah, I don't want to do that" and now they're being targeted with hate.

It isn't just Resetera, there's a faction of people out there on Twitter and elsewhere who are singling out the players and throwing accusations at them. So it's not good enough to tolerate them and let them do their own thing. Now, if you don't actively participate, you are Hitler. I remember when they told us there was no slippery slope.

Naturally, it's religion's fault. And these guys are gung-ho about protecting a religion that throws gays from rooftops, but not the religion that says you don't have to wear a gay logo.

I'm not surprised excelsiorlef thinks the gay logos should not have been optional.

We're probably in for more of this in the future. While sometimes it looks like the pendulum is swinging the other way, I don't think it's affecting Pride Month yet. Let's just hope it doesn't get worse.

Except this is what was written in the bible:

1 Corinthians 6:9
New American Standard Bible
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,

I can guarantee none of them read the bible at all, and merely uses their own skewed "impressions" of the bible.

The complaint they're making in that post there seems to be more that the newspaper shouldn't have reported why the players refused. Or reported it more like "the players said this is why they refused, which proves they are fucking bigots and need to be helicopter dropped."

Of course there is outrage which is funny cause the CDC is saying that we are around 250 deaths a day.

Resetera is a very fun place to watch. It has been ingrained in their heads to vaxx. No one is going to vaxx who isn't already vaxxed. And we are at 250 deaths a day and lowering.

I also like the idea of a bait and switch instead of the organizers going "yeah 90% of the country is open, lets not bother." They really don't comprehend that if an expo doesn't have to logistically look through every person to find a vaxx status. they aren't gonna bother. Pure Karens in the thread going "THEY BETTER OFFER REFUNDS! I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR COVID." Also funny that a user mentions another expo with all these restrictions and how they still got people sick. Like they are ALMOST at the point of "I mean I guess even with all these restrictions, people are still getting it. If we want 0 cases we are gonna have to not have these expos ever, or just realize Covid is over" But they steer it in the other direction of "Even with all these restrictions, people are still getting it (and aren't dying) WE NEED MORE RESTRICTIONS. WE NEED ANOTHER LOCKDOWN."

Muslims don’t get a pass when it comes to sodomites either. There was a thread about a Muslim guy saying he opposed LGBT just a few days ago.

They’re the same kind of people who like those dumb twitter memes about Jesus being a socialist. Their knowledge of the Bible and Jesus is, like everything else, limited to popular movies, tv shows, and video games.

Uh, I have a better question that you only sorta touched on. How would making sure everyone was vaccinated stop them from getting COVID? Are they still hanging onto Rachel Maddow's incorrect claim from March 2021?

1654752606885.png

We're more than 18 months into this, the vaccine protects you from the effects of COVID, it helps you be "less sick", it doesn't stop you from getting and spreading COVID. Especially for a situation like an anime convention, there's only marginal effects because your incubation period will be shorter since you'll kill it better. It won't do anything for the group if everyone's passing it back and forth to each other all day everyday for multiple days. How can they possibly explain the mentioned other convention if they deny this explanation of how the vaccine must work?

Also, weren't they banning people for "posting misinformation in a pandemic"?

They are still under the belief that vaxxed people do not spread covid, if you read some of the posts in that thread they want it to be vaxxed only so that they "feel safe" not wearing a mask.
The first isn't even unusual. The flu vaccine doesn't completely prevent transmission either, and neither do many other completely routine vaccines. The second isn't how it works, though. Masks don't prevent getting it, or even reduce the chance of it much. They substantially reduce the chance of spreading it.

ive seen excelsiorlef claim to be both asexual and bisexual within the last week, depending on the context of the thread
They can try and be whatever "identity" they want, but at the end of the day, Larry's a 40 year old night shift grocery store stocker. And still a WWE fan. I don't know which one is worse.

It's also worth noting that going out to rescue a drowner while not possessing a flotation device typically makes a drowning victim out of you too, especially if the drowner is the same size as you AND you're wearing street clothing (or a police uniform). It's why lifeguards always have those long foam buoys, and wouldn't go to rescue somebody without it.
Or, even more so, if the person you want to rescue is a flailing retard.

If you're a pool lifeguard, anyone drowning in a swimming pool literally is a flailing retard if they didn't hit their head or have a heart attack or something.
Even in SCUBA training you're taught to not go anywhere near someone who is drowning until they're unconscious because odds are they'll kill you and themselves and there is no way to predict who is going to die first. You wait until they're unconscious to do anything.

Out-of-air situations where the other person is reasonably calm is a different story.

What they do is try to climb up on top of you to get out of water, because they're literally in a blind panic and were fucking retarded to begin with. Obviously this doesn't work for anyone much less the fool trying to save them.

Much like first aid training any sort of training for rescuing people from water makes it abundantly clear. Priority number 1 is YOU. If you have any doubts about your ability to help don't take the risk because all that does is add to the number of people who need help.

Well, you see, the idiots on resetera already solved that problem. They said the cop could easily just punch and knock the drowning person out and then save them.
That's an actual quote isn't it?
Here’s some free training for the cops. Take off your gear except for your nightstick. Jump in, knock out the drowning person and pull em to safety.

Win win for the cop, get to smash someone over the head (they like doing this regardless) and save their life at the same time.
That's one of the dumbest things I've seen from them.

I actually read the thread, one of them asked "Can’t you at least nail them on Good Sumaritan laws?"
No, because those laws are the ones used by people who do help to stop the fucking ingrates they assist from suing them. Not to compel people to aid.
I give Reee credit, not only did that get mentioned but one user ate a 1 week ban for downplaying how dangerous water rescues are. The thread as whole though is awful. The two primary opinions are "the police should never have turned up to a domestic disturbance call" and "the police should have immediately pinned the guy to the ground and cuffed him." Both of which would have resulted in a triple length thread screaming about Nazis.

The thread as a whole though is the stupidest thing I've read this week. And I went through the thread where Null's hunting some new Commisar's for the Thunderdome.

Such duty-to-rescue laws are few and far between and always have an exception for danger to self. And a thrashing, drowning moron is always a danger.

Germany has some, I believe I spotted some people getting charged for them in an article posted on here. Can't find it but this looks to be one.
(CNN)As the 83-year-old man lay unconscious in the entryway of a bank in western Germany, not one, not two, but three people stepped over him or walked around him to use the ATMs.
Now, a court has convicted the three of failing to help the man, who died a week after the incident.
The three were charged under Germany's "good Samaritan" laws. The District Court of Essen-Borbeck said the three didn't help the man "although they were obliged to do so."
The incident took place last October in the foyer of a Deutsche Bank branch. Surveillance video presented in court showed the collapsed man and the three people paying no attention to him.
The defendants argued they thought the 83-year-old was a homeless man sleeping.
"Because the man was visible in immediate vicinity of the banking machines, there could be no reasonable doubt for the defendants this was a disaster that required assistance," the court said in a statement.
The court, in its statement, didn't name the victim or the defendants. The three have to pay fines ranging from $2,900 to $4,300.
"Duty to assist" statutes also exist in countries such as Denmark and France. The absence of such laws in many US states is due in part to the fact that courts have consistently ruled that a person is not bound by law to help someone else (even if one would think it falls under the law of common decency). Many states do, however, have laws that protect people who render aid from being charged if their actions unintentionally cause harm to the person they are trying to help.
One recent case that made headlines was in Florida, when a group of teens taunted a drowning man while filming his death from afar. They were not initially criminally charged, but police later recommended to the prosecutor that they be charged with failing to report a death.
I don't think any of those countries would even bat an eyelid at people not rendering aid in the scenario that's wound up Reeeee though.

But they are people with a very tenuous grasp on reality.
