I still have fond memories of him absolutely embarrassing Paul Ryan in the 2012 debate. He should've done what I thought he was doing after Beau died and retired to private life as a middling VP.

Plasma/laser weapons? Seeing as the military just adopted meme caliber 6.8mm, seems they haven't figured out gunpowder-based weapons yet. Also we don't have the required battery tech for portable laser weapons just yet. Soviets used a chemical fuel element but it still had very limited power.

Observation. Last week son took me to see the new Top Gun. Think we sat through an easy 30 minutes of advertisements and trailers. Seems like half the people in the ads were black, another 20% mixed-race. WAY out of proportion to the actual percentage of blacks in the population. Not sure what kind of message these people think they are sending but still want nothing to do with Disney products since they are aggressively "woke". Better approach...cast people more in accordance with their percentage of the population.

The whole reason the filibuster exists is so that you need to convince an decisive majority of the senators to change the system, which generally encourages moderate crowd-pleaser actions and makes your moderate democrats and republicans kingmakers.

If you remove it, you completely remove the stabilisation it offers, and whoever’s on top can just push through whatever nonsense they want. As it is, the only way they can do that is with a 60+ win, and that balance could be redressed in just two years if it starts going too far.

Republicans generally don’t want to throw away a stabilising pillar of their republic just for the lols.

people keep forgetting that it benefits most all Americans when Congress is in a deadlock and can't pass anything too radical.
