Street Fighter 6 + Darkstalkers News! - *Morrigan laugh*

I think they moved to Granblue, and are moving onto DNF. Following the chain of licensed Arcsys spinoffs.
Yeah, or they'd play Strive which rewards just hitting buttons.

Current state of fighting games is just sad. It's either pay 2 win bullshit or insane grinds to get basic cosmetics or they just reward autists who hit buttons.

I'm not an MVC player, what did people move onto, Power Rangers?
Mvc3 players just ended up modding their own game and stuck with it after awhile. Everything that tried being like marvel has their own niche fans, but for many never hit that mark.

Granblue players are just nu arcsys fans from dbfz. That game doesn't have much to offer and its a fairly tame by anime standards.

DNF is a meme fighting game that'll fall off in about a month. A very "fuck neutral" game with absurdly floaty jumps and block stuns that last for decades. Its very funny though.

We knew we were never gonna get another one since they screwed the pooch so hard with Infinite, so the people just started adding characters like Cyclops, Psylocke and tons of others.

But yeah, the only thing that came kinda close was DBFZ but that game just isn't it tbh. Something about how low the damage is making rounds feel like they take forever. Honestly? The only team game I ever had a shit ton of fun with post MVC3 was fucking BBTAG.

Just let that sink in for a minute.

SF4 was far from perfect, but at least you could say that it was a proper street fighter game.

SFV, even with it's """improvements""" it offered in DLC, it still can't reach a high ranking.

And guarentee you SF6 will be lower in ratings than SFV is.
You know I was gonna say, that's not even SFV championship edition (AKA: the new version they put on the store to shed all the bad reviews legally) but even CE only has a 73% positive rating.

And yeah, of course SF4 has better ratings than 5. 4 wasn't a constant shit show from day 1. The worst things we dealt with in 4 was Yun being broken as fuck and Elenas squiggly hitboxes/healing bs. Things that could've been solved with a patch. Which they didn't do because they just opted to kill SF4 for 5. Even though it was very clear the Vanilla SF5 release desperately needed another year or so in the oven.

Also what improvements even? They added that vshift mechanic which, while it is helpful it doesn't solve the monkey monkey unga bunga the game is.

And lastly, I can't see 6 having worse reviews than 5. Aesthetically, it's already better than 5 and if the leak is true, also has a bigger day 1 roster than 5. Not to mention it has the free roam thing which means it'll already have more single player content on day 1 than SF5. (Assuming that is sp content and not some weird Arcsys style lobby thing) Already even has more mechanics offensive and defensive than 5 (Which had V Reversal on day 1 and that's it) Not to mention rollback netcode being confirmed is a boon too. I can't really judge mechanics without playing the game myself but even if SF6 plays like ass, its looking to be better than 5 by a country mile at this point.

I want it to be a lobby system just for the idea of a bunch of the same ryus running around like a bunch of spazzes

Agreed with everything except the low damage of DBZFighterZ. If anything, the damage was too high and all the characters played roughly the same. Plus it was even more jungle than Marvel with zoning being virtually non-existent. Perhaps the damage in season 2 or 3?

Ratings mean jackshit without context.
SF4, aka baby's first fighting game, was received with open arms thanks to xbox live, a competent (patched) PC port, madcatz putting out an affordable stick that wasn't made out of scrap, and capcom pushing for seasonal open tourneys.
By the time SF5 went on open testing, the shill journos were already being employed by capcom tour staff, and most of the big dick pros were photographed receiving tote bags and merch from capcom themselves, so everyone knew they were not going to be upfront about it. You can search for their hands-on impressions, they called it "marvel with lag" or "marvel with frame freebies" since lenient inputs stacked on top of hilarious comeback mechanics made for better watching, which is what capcom and their sponsors wanted out of the esports angle. But you cannot please everyone. Normies don't buy into the whole "MUH journey" bullshit, they just wanna shoryuken all night with friends and laugh about it, so all your careful balancing plans are moot, while the poopsock pros hate that the skills they've honed for decades can now be easily accessed by the rabble thanks to lenient inputs.
You get me? none of this is reflected on metacritic scores because those are leveraged between shill journos and casuals.

I'd be okayish with that, especially if we can just run around emoting like retards at players we don't like.

Well, I oversimplified with DBFZ since its a huge confluence of problems with that game but it just feels like it takes forever to kill people in that game. In Marvel 3 if you get bopped, you're dead in 2 seconds. If you get mega bopped, you just move to the next set and go again. vs DBFZ where you get hit and then you have to sit for like 10 fucking seconds getting comboed. MVC3s pacing is exceptional vs DBFZ which after 6 months of playing just felt like a fucking slog. I think that's why I liked BBTAG so much too because the pace is so rapid. It's played best of five normally for a reason.

Also doesn't help that DBFZ has that skip neutral button which you just abuse all the time. Once again this is another monkey monkey rushdown game too but at this point in my life, I've just acknowledged Zoning is dead and nothing is bringing it back. Which I should technically be happy about because I play grapplers but I don't like when playstyles are killed because they aren't casual friendly.

That's really no different from facing a high tier player in something like X-Men vs Street Fighter or even MVC2. People pull off infinite air combos constantly with Magneto, Storm, Wolverine, and Cyclopse just to name a few.

The fuck is up with the multiple sonic booms? That some mugen-tier shit.
It's probably a homage to Charlie Nash. His super was that he could throw out multiple sonic booms

I can't get into any fighters right now because even if the actual fighting is good everything outside of them is garbage. King of Fighters doesn't even have working matchmaking right now, and I'll never forgive them for the absolute disgrace that was Samurai Shodown on PC.

I'm cautiously optimistic for SF6 since I'm warming up to it, but they're still faggots for calling baby mode 'modern'
