No, you did not, but you did seem favorable to a lot of the other guy's rather baseless sperging beforehand.
My remarks were, in fact, quite sarcastic in their intended tone given one of the points Mothman kept harping at me about was that somehow giving competitive, international tournament-participating, sponsored, "professional" players any acknowledgement of what they are in the most practical sense is somehow lending them any degree of meaningful credence. If even making reference to them at all is some kind of cardinal sin, then how is it any different when namedropping oldguard "pros" such as Daigo and Mago as examples? They're suddenly not exempt from it just because they may be crowd favorites.
In fact, even invoking Daigo Umehara as an example is, in a way, endemic of a degree of "celebrity worship", given his much acclaimed status as "the Beast" and how his name still garners varying degrees of respect, even if, as I understand it, he hasn't exactly been a consistent grand finals champion in major tourneys for a while. Hell, the "FGC" still holds a lot of other names as well in high regard – like Mago, Tokido, Justin Wong, Alex Valle, etc. – so to claim that "your" camp "doesn't do the eceleb worship thing" is a bit willfully ignorant and lacking in self-awareness at best.
I don't doubt for a minute that SFV is much maligned by most players. It certainly deserves to be. But that doesn't change the fact that it is still actively played regardless, even by the likes of players such as Daigo.
