Patrick Sean Tomlinson / @stealthygeek / "Torque Wheeler" / @RealAutomanic / Kempesh / Padawan v2.5 - "Conservative" sci-fi author with TDS, armed "drunk with anger management issues" and terminated parental rights, actual tough guy, obese, paid Quasi, paid thousands to be repeatedly unbanned from Twitter

I don't think he is for mundane reasons but I think he could be barely adequate at it, but I also have a very dim view of insurance salesmen
What, you don't view this kind of behavior as entirely legitimate commercial activity?

Ned would probably be a much better insurance salesman than Rick.

Maybe it's insurance related but not sales? You're right, I can't really see him trying to sell anything to anyone without childing them after getting frustrated and immediately losing the sale.
I can imagine Fatrick refusing to leave until he makes a sale.

"No child, you DO need this product and you WILL buy it".

From the SFWA leak:

    "Membership level": "*Full",
    "First name": "Patrick S.",
    "Last name": "Tomlinson",
    "e-Mail": "patrickstomlinson@gmail.com",

  }
So we know he's a vaunted "full" member, but not a "lifetime." Also his agent is apparently Russell Galen, who used to be Phil Dick's agent. In any event, that explains how an absolute idiot like this can get contacts in Hollywood. I'm not sure if it's the Russell Galen himself or just an associate at his firm, but that's a pretty hard hitting literary agency.

This fat bastard managed to luck (or suck) his way into that somehow.
Powerlevelling here but I was a full SFWA member before deciding my money was better spent elsewhere and you Don’t have to prove who your agent is. They’re super-fussy on publishing credits though: self published authors only came in quite recently.

I suspect the agent contact was not Galen but an associate of assistant - I’ve only conversed with associates when dealing with that agency, most older literary agencies have a real Weekend At Bernie’s vibe when it comes to the founding members.

Also I hate to say this for folks who may be considering the trad route: but getting the agent can be the easiest gate/level boss to pass - it gets harder afterwards when trying to do the “submit to publisher” level.

This was from a new episode of Forensic Files. Some unknown serial killer from the 1970's that looks a lot like Fatrick.

Nah, he's the Delphi child killer

All these serial killer pictures make me believe in phrenology. The similarity to Pat could explain why Nikki left, why the courts let Pat surrender his parental rights, and why PCJ had to take those death threats so seriously. Ade was clearly horrified when she discovered Pat's psychopathic nature; Niki must stay with him because she's his partner in crime.

Either it's phrenology, or Pat has gotten so fat that his weight has created wormholes through time, allowing him to be the man behind all those sketches.

You seriously think Pat could be a salesman? He would be even worse as an insurance salesman than at what he actually does.
Doesn't the salesman get a piece of everything their client does, including renewing? If he was given or inherited a client base as part of a pity job, he might just be collecting the bare minimum on renewals and client initiated coverage changes

I’m sure they have dozens.
Given what I've seen from SWFA members and their "agents" so far from browsing the leaked membership archive's twitter accounts, the agents are often as big or bigger cows than their "authors," which I put in quotation marks because SWFA members can barely read, let alone write.

I've only seen one non-cringe literary agent twitter and one borderline non-cringe SWFA member twitter so far. Both of them did nothing on twitter but shill, which is appropriate given it's the only way they will ever get any sales. The SWFA member tweeted constantly, but it was all variations of 'hey here's my book, buy it.' 'I am on a podcast selling my book, buy it.' etc etc.

Piggy cant even copy pasta correctly he's so seething in rage its beautiful.
Wrong as always child. His fat, pig-like hands were covered in pepperoni grease and he couldn’t copy and paste correctly. He was not raging incoherently at the knowledge that his daughter is mourning the only man she will ever consider her real father.

Sounds like it would hugely depend on how generous the company is.

Maybe in insurance and stateside it works differently, but all my experience with salesmen is it is nearly all commission, unless they take a minimum wage, and reduced commissions deal, but they are still expected to hit target.

They probably do get renewal commission, I know that is a point of contention when salesmen move on or die from too much coke and hookers.

Their grasping comrades in sleaze will be ringing the boss to get the contracts before calling an ambulance.

Which is why I can’t see anyone pity jobbing Fatrick. Even if he couldn’t sell for shit, the kind of cut throat mentality it takes to be successful in sales will win out.

Pity job from a family member or possibly even Ade's family seems plausible. Who the fuck would hire him if it wasn't for familial obligations?

How long can Pat run around like nothing’s wrong before he is forced to pay off some of his debts? It seems like people can just spend as much nonexistent money as they want to with no consequences.
As with every other mess in his life, he thinks he can cover his ears and pretend not to know about it, then someone else will clean it up.
