Have we just reached the end point of games until Virtual Reality (or whatever the next evolution is) can be done in a more fulfilling way?

Like, if we had never made the fullfilling jump to 3D in the 7th gen would we have been feeling this way by 2001? Just seeing the same generic shit over and over just with a hipster/faggy/autistic coat of paint?
 
In the other streams I saw some comments about the games being unoriginal and at first but this stream is just full of unoriginal shit. From the bit I watched of this stream most of the games are pixel shit and Humanitz is generic zombie game 3 billion.

The publisher Freedom Games seems to be Indie orientated, but as an unique twist they seem to have brought the risk averse nature of AAA publishing to indie. So everything needs to have been proven to sell by other indie games.
