I just got one of those "practice update bulletins" via email informing that you're supposed to stop doing so many laparoscopies for endometriosis, the new treatment of choice is...Lupron. Now it was always one of the options. But this new update pushes it hard, above many options with fewer long-lasting risks.

Right and while they're in there they can burn off some of the lesions, which as far as buying some time with less pain and use of painkillers works as well as anything works (nothing works THAT well for that disease unfortunately). That involves skill and effort which are lacking in Current Year GYN grads though.

Wut? I am genuinely surprised at this. I thought the practice of lupron for first line suspected endometriosis was gone? This is basically pharma pressure.
Are you in the states ? (Sorry no need to answer on here, don’t say anything that would dox your location I guess.) they still use GnRh inhibitors here but I am fairly sure that other hormonal stuff and laparoscopic work is the main treatment. Lupron for endo just doesn’t have the evidence base of enough benefit for the harm it causes. I’ll take my MOTI ratings but fucking hell, this is just awful.
