I see you didn't like my comment about Unity. There's been great games made from it and a accessible engine that's malleable, but i'll always think of jank and asset flips with how many swarm it.genshin runs on unity, just saying (as do a fuckload of games most people don't know since the pro version doesn't have a mandatory splash screen).
"MMO" can mean anything, even if several hundred people only interact with a shared market npc it's technically still "massive multiplayer". it's more a marketing buzzword than strict definition these days.
I assume it will be like dragon quest builders and/or some more survival/build stuff with some holo events and VN sections sprinkled in, like cooking with haachama etc., probably some live service stuff where they release more so people come back. doubt they gonna go the full gatcha route where your whale for your oshi, because that only works if they can constantly put out new whalebait in characters that affect gameplay via powercreep. they could do variants/costumes of those but it wouldn't necessarily have the same "pull", not to mention would be a pain in the ass in the long run - imagine you'd have a SSR rushia and they want to memory hole her.
TLDR: they probably keep the player/holo interaction limited in a more controllable way.
On topic with HoloEarth,
It's smart that they're kinda doing a game cause it'll be a interactive experience that will keep people around longer and in turn possibly spend more money longevity wise. Pricey upfront but probs payoff once it's complete and people have a another avenue to support their oshi and view them in.
That's why I think they're doing the crafting/building stuff cause that'll allow the girls and fans to be creative and stay around making content with the game similar to Minecraft. Can probs share their creations to the fans, like Holo jp town, and vice versa with fans being able to share a KFP store to Kiara on Cover own platform.
The social/event kinda like 2nd life with concerts and venues thing too will be good for interactivity with holding concerts on their own platform so they probs allow more things that they can't do on Youtube like Beach event or have people pay to enter the concert halls.
the feature of recording and taking pictures with a in game phone be nice to with users sharing content of the holo characters doing things out in the game world will be funny to see, with people creating funny background probs to whatever the girls will be doing. (Like someone recording Towa bullying Pekora and Pekora falls off a cliff cause someone got them near a cliff to do the animation). I can tell people will find funny ways to make the characters interaction interesting to view.
I'm excited to see what it becomes and if it becomes a successful for Cover without having to depend on Youtube and Twitch to support their ventures.
