Since you brought that up, can one also count the other works of Bleedman?
I would. His art gives me the most uncomfortable of vibes. And his writing is really just an excuse to write poorly paced action scenes.
Anyways, here's the other comic I have a rather "fond" memory of reading, I present to you the rather awkwardly titled
Star Cross'd Destiny. Now I
would post a tl;dr post on this comic and why I don't really like it. But that's what
the BWCW is for. However, I will list my major issues:
- The art, quite frankly, looks like shit. It's pretty easy to see what's wrong with it at a first glance too. Between the CAD-style backgrounds, terrible anatomy, disgustingly lazy anime style and ugly, flat coloring. And the comic changed to color after a point from Black and white, which was even worse. And that's the first 200 or so pages too. Nowadays the art is better. But only in the sense that she graduated from from anime style to the "Rob Leifeld School of Wacked-out Proportions".
- The characters have no character. The main character's a Mary Sue that's also "2edgy4me". She's also a criminal who we're
supposed to sympathize with, which wouldn't be an issue if she were well written, but no. The supporting characters aren't much better. There's nothing to them beyond a physical appearance and the fact that half of them die during the first part.
-The villains for the first part are the police. That's fine and all, but the problem is that in this comic, there are no good
or neutral police officers- they're all treated like criminals. Perhaps more so than the "good guys". Why is that? It's because the Chief's son was killed by the main character. So by default, all police must be evil, right?
- The pacing. To wit, the story itself doesn't start until page 170. The first 169 pages, which is the bulk of the comic,
is the fucking prologue. And that takes a break to show off the main character's car in a stupid, and completely out of place, drag race. After the prologue, the rest of the comic feels like it's rushing through the storyline to make up for the absurd length.
If there's one thing I can praise the comic for, it's that the protag gets her comeuppance at the end of the prologue. Pitty it wasn't her dying.
