Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

I liked Cold War and the Outbreak mode for Zombies.
The only redeeming factor of BOCW was the Zombies, Outbreak when it was first released was fun but quickly lost replay value until the grand quests were added.
I liked CW zombies. It wasn't perfect, but it did a solid job being fun and giving me something to mindlessly grind while watching old TV shows. I got Dark Aether on all but 3 guns, just to show how much I played and enjoyed. I can not for the life of me fathom why anybody likes Outbreak.

It's a boring game mode designed to waste your time. "Here, spend the next 30 minutes scrounging through this map where 80% of it is vacant worthless space, then do these piss easy objectives, then go to the next random map and repeat". I don't mind mindless grinding, but jesus christ that game mode puts me to sleep.

God forbid you're doing the main quest, because then you and your friends will spend a couple of hours preparing for it, only for somebody to open a chest and crash out, forcing everybody to restart because Treyarch disabled late join due to an exploit they are too fucking retarded to fix. God help you if you get one of the common bugs where your camera gets fucked up, or a required boss falls through the floor before you can kill it.

BOCW has some of the easiest and casual main quests in any CoD Zombies mode, and I really like it that way. The steps are easy and it barely takes that much time to really prep for it, especially the Outbreak mode, it only took a friend and I like maybe an hour to do one of the quests... And by that I mean my friend did all the steps while I did map objectives.
Forsaken is also probably one of my top favorite maps ever because of how fucking easy it is to survive plus the arcade.

so, will Modern Warfare 2 have "subtle" Ukraine war references or will the devs wait a couple of years for that?

This is why anyone imagining their always-online co-op campaign concept would be anything less than a total trash fire is living in a world of rainbow optimism.

Call of Duty: Elden Ring edition incoming?

I like the Outbreak game mode because of the big map and the vehicles. I mostly played solo so I could take my time to level up my weapons. I think I completed one of the battle passes just by playing Outbreak.

Hearing this it make me think of modern Ghost Recon and I don't like the idea at all... A CoD RPG could work but I don't know if any studio would be able to pull it off.
I wouldn't mind a CoD spin-off series. GR Wildlands was pretty good.
If IW could bring back Infinite Warfare as a CoD RPG that would be nice. I liked the world and the aesthetic of IW.

The 80's Action Heroes event as well.

This is going to sound weird, but Cold War should have kept the spawn/best play music and general tone they used for that event. The game already felt like it was pushing into 80's action movie/GI Joe with every bad guy wearing some sort of mask and all of the goofy skins they sold. I honestly think if they kept that tone throughout the campaign and seasons instead of the serious/moody style they used it would have been more fun.

GR Wildlands was pretty good.
"This medal looks like it came out of a Cracker Jack box, or the Air Force or something."

God, some of the squad banter in that game was great. Especially when they start talking about how only drug lords and SEALS would want mausoleums that ornate and massive.

God I hope modern warfare 2 has ground war infected. That shit was some of the most fun I’ve had in any call of duty. I’m still mad they removed it

So I don't play Vanguard so maybe I'm missing context

But my friend told me season 4 is a time jump to 1976 and now the actual cutscenes for the story now depict operators fighting each other like in the gameplay instead of Nazis?

And I thought Cold Wars seasons had a dumb story...

Their WW2 themed fanfiction flopped so hard, they're rapidly changing course while Vanguard is still on the yearly cycle.

The only call of duty that I ever played was Big Red One
Wow, you're an oldhead. Are you into CoD or shooters?

There's something about Black Ops 1 sniping that feels "heavier." Is it less aim assist? I can't put my finger on it.
