It sucks because it's obviously untrue - being considered "ugly" by Eurocentric beauty standards is not the same as not being considered a woman, or not being subjected to misogyny. Anyone who has read just about anything about the slavery era in the US knows that sexual abuse and rape of enslaved black women was pretty commonplace, and I know that their extensive subjection to medical experimentation in the development of the field of gynecology has been covered here before. The crux of this argument is not that black women are considered men but rather not human. My personal take on slavery is that it must have been easier to do human rights atrocities (like conduct unsedated surgeries, beat, or mutilate) when you can convince yourself that others’ pain is less like yours, like an animal’s might be. It may have something to do with porn. A yound kid seeing porn during puberty is going to be hit a lot harder and faster in their formative years than an older guy who already has a somewhat stable framework. But given enough time to soak in it and even that stability can be worn away.
