Idk I just can't quite square up his responsibility in all this. He probably didn't deserve it, and the surgeons who enable this shit are absolute garbage, but as we've seen throughout this thread and tranny sideshows, he ultimately decided CUTTING OFF HIS OWN PENIS, the one thing that gives him pleasure, was an excellent idea, and no doubt buried himself in the hugbox when people told him this was a terrible fucking idea.

The blame is on the patient for pushing, yes. And on the people who groomed them. And massively on the medics who facilitate the whole thing and do the surgeries. Nobody is installing their own colon amhole or making their own frankendong - a surgeon is needed. The whole medical field is culpable here. There will always be patients who are mentally Ill and want bits chopping off. That doesn’t excuse surgeons doing this, nor does it excuse people lobbying to change treatment guidelines and standards of care. Everyone from pill pushers to supporters to the surgeons is guilty. The actual damage is done, and encouraged, by the doctors and surgeons. They are guilty. When it’s done to kids who can’t consent to anything else, or to the vulnerable or severely mentally unwell, it’s simply carnage

On one hand, there are some people who chimp out every time a detransitioner talks about regret, and go off about how it's their own fault. But a person can be coerced by a community/professionals/their own mentally ill dumb ass AND take responsibility.
On the other hand, while idk how much he posts about this- maybe he has a big "how much of this is my own personal responsibility" thread- I do call bullshit on him not mentioning it even once in a thread that long. Dude posts a thread that long and that personal and intimate about what he's done to himself and not once says "oh no I hope I'm not responsible for this happening to anyone else which is why I'm speaking out now"?

I would hope that every single detransitioner with a social media presence (lol so all of them) who feels sorry for themselves and is in pain and misery realizes that they've had a hand in inflicting that on others and in silencing the people who try to stop this. It should be the driving force behind their speaking out and they should set an example for everyone by apologizing regularly.

I do see how he's somewhat responsible but doctors shouldn't be lying about their treatment at the very least. If troons actually knew the real consequences of their treatment I would have very little sympathy but the entire medical system wants to troll them too which is kind of the worst part. It's not healthy to go through life blaming everyone else for the things that you do to yourself. Shockingly, something can be the fault of more than one person at once. My take on the situation has always been that there are stupid people out there who want stupid things done to them, and medical professionals shouldn't be allowed to enable them regardless of other factors at play - but it takes two to tango, and doctors aren't grabbing random people off the street.

The man who wrote that thread is obviously conscious and capable of critical thinking. He's not a mental child who was manipulated into doing something he didn't understand. The man can use Twitter. He could have done more research. Vast amounts of information about the procedure are readily available online, and he chose not to look them up. He was an ignorant adult male who did something dumb, and a surgeon enabled him to do that - which shouldn't be allowed, but it's silly to act like he had no say in what happened at all. If he had better judgment, this wouldn't have happened.

People are talking about how it's the detransitoner's fault for not being better informed but this thread shows that getting the correct information is not easy, people trying to tell you risk getting dogpilled and that information gets buried with the dozens of people, including doctors and specialists, telling you it's a lie.

I don't know, I consider myself relatively aware of the stuff and even the medical articles often downplay stuff, it's one of the reasons we have this thread. Ultimately it's also his fault but docotrs are supposed to be the most informed ones, not patients.

Makes me wonder what Barbara was achieving when making that tweet, because how does incontinence in women relate to hacked up dicks.

Plus if a medical treatment causes incontinence it's usually a big deal, as incontinence is a serious medical issue with profound impacts on mental health and quality of life

It looks like early is the first word but it could be curly. The second word I can’t make out. It looks like early increments but that doesn’t make sense.

It’s the entire institutional medical apparatus allowing this and even covering it under insurance, including government insurance.
Some doctors are crazy. You’ll never be able to totally prevent this. But you can take their licenses away if they do awful things. People go to Kathy Rumer because she takes state insurance.

Also, I don’t think most troon surgeons started out any more psychopathic than any other surgeon (which is still more than the normal person, granted). A lot of them do things that require lots of precision, like hand surgery. Troon surgery is easy money and it doesn’t matter if you screw up because there’s no standards of meaningful outcomes. Why wouldn’t you get on board?

Think about the Catholic priest sex abuse scandal. It wasn’t just about the abuse: it was that the bishops knew and allowed them to continue doing it.

I'm one of the autists who can't see a joke in these post-op notes.

Ordering a repeat hemoglobin in two hours, after you're mostly sure you've stopped the bleeding, is legit.

Given the terseness that comes with handwritten notes (this isn't the full post-up note you'd expect to be dictated. It reads like notes for a later dictation), "early intervention for bleeding; call me" is explicitly telling the floor staff that if the patient is continuing to bleed, page the surgeon because he'll want to take this patient back to the OR.

Sometimes surgeons are not so clear on how concerned they are about post-op bleeding, and you have to be familiar with the surgery and the surgeon; how much blood loss is the threshold for Dr. Smith to be concerned when you page him in the middle of the night, vs. Dr. Jones, vs. it-doesn't-matter-what-the-surgeon-says-this-is-urgent.

This surgeon is coming right out and saying "FYI I might have to go back in on this one and I won't pooh-pooh you if you page me at 0200."

Intervention would make sense. I don’t see a joke here either. Surgeon is saying if bleeding starts again (and they talk about bleeding higher up) to intervene fast and call him. That’s not a joke, maybe I’m missing something on the notes?
. 1600ml blood loss for major op isn’t trivial but neither is it devastating. From personal experience you can lose that much or more giving birth and no one gives a shit in the uk. Have a cup of nhs tea and get on with it
