This is kinda offtopic but I didn't know where else to rage about this.
Discovery made a "documentary" called
The Book of Queer. It essentially is propaganda claiming that famous historical figures were gay. They trotted out the old claim that Abraham Lincoln was a gay/bisexual man. This has been argued for years based on the well cited fact that Lincoln shared a bed with at least a couple men for periods in his early life. While today that sounds rather gay you simply have to remember that in Lincoln's day beds were a luxury item and grown men commonly slept together.
Well anyway in this video a ton of salacious quotes are shown apparently coming from one of Lincoln's close friends Joshua Speed. Speed allegedly wrote that he and "Lincoln were as intimate as two men can be." To show legitimacy the video even gives citations for this.
Charles Strozier, that's a name worth noting. Because all you have to do is look at
Joshua Speed's Wikipedia Entry and you find this.
The makers of this documentary are so bad at creating falsehoods that a simple search from Wikipedia debunks it. Two historians called this now lost hidden diary a hoax. And clearly the people who made this garbage knew it was all a lie since they're citing the historian that challenges the claim.
I guess nothing should be shocking anymore but seeing corporate media shamelessly create such deceitful propaganda to indoctrinate the easily gullible is just despicable.
Edit: Just to be clear Strozier is cited by Discovery, and yet Strozier himself is adamant that there was nothing gay going on with Abraham Lincoln. They took his book and twisted it around to serve their bullshit premise.
