Shit that reminds you that you’re getting old - Re: Fwd: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Fwd: Damn young’uns

It’s not even the child actors either. You’d be surprised to see how many of the adult actors playing parents etc etc have racked up felonies and drug charges. I wouldn’t be surprised if they got touched too, knowing Disney.
As I get older, the more it bothers me that just about every woman I see in entertainment has had sex with some slimeball producer or director to get a part at least once in their lives.

I remember when my local tobacconist had packs of samples you could take, and a sign that said "Thank You for Smoking".
During the "Joe Camel" era, I remember there were all kinds of ways you could get these cute little 5-packs for free, free lighters, and other nonsensical schwag for points.

"Running Up That Hill" was in the latest season of Stranger Things (the gayest show of all time), which is why it's blowing up.

"Wuthering Heights" is better, anyway.

Mine are in their 70s now. That's one thing that's always scared me about getting older is knowing that my folks won't be around much longer. Even though I'm in my 40s, I still need them in my life.
I got hit with this as soon as my mom turned 50 (I was 16 at the time). The reality of it was terrifying and for a few years after that I was extremely depressed about my parents getting older. They’re both in their early 60’s now, and that milestone was also a hard pill to swallow. It’s just heartbreaking to see your parents age and realize they won’t always be there. (:_(

The Solar Eclipse I dreamed about in 2018 that happened in June 2002 is now 20 years ago.

Also the "666" album from Aphrodite's Child released in 1972 is now 50 years ago and people are now flocking to listen to the whole album.

My Mum's in her mid seventies and she's been having problems with her short term memory since she had a major operation ten years ago, but it's started getting noticeable for someone who doesn't live with her now. It makes my shriveled, blackened heart break. And my Dad, while he's in good health right now, is in his mid eighties, and is prone to horrendous chest infections. Every time I hear him cough my fingers twitch to dial 000. Having your parents grow old on you is not only heart breaking, it's nerve wracking.

The thing about parents is you spend your childhood being a pain in the butt to them, you wish they'd just go away when you're a teenager then as an adult you worry about them more than they worried about you. You know they'll be gone someday, it happens to everyone, but you try not to think about it.

You think to yourself that as long as you don't it can't happen, but it always will. Sooner or later, it always does.

I'd add something to stay on topic of what reminds you you're getting old, but I can't think of anything after typing that.

Actually I got something, genetic engineering is also something that's turning 50 (first known experiment was in 73) yet we're no closer to beating death by old age than those same scientists who first developed artificial insulin for diabetes, or the ones who cloned dolly the sheep.

Father died when I was an infant, mother will be dead within the year. I'm early thirties.

On the one hand, it sucks knowing that I'll never have the 'see my parents meet my children' thing (and much more;) but on the other hand, my parents were also cunts. So it's a net zero.

Truly envious of people like you though, and I mean that.

What makes me feel old? Talking to a gym buddy today who is 26. Dude is renovating the house he owns in the hopes or selling it for a tidy profit, then buying an apartment.

I don't own a house yet, nor even have a deposit. Made me feel old and unaccomplished, despite the fact he certainly grew up better off than I did.

It's dumb and simple, but timestamps on videos and posts and websites are what get to me. Videos I fondly remember are older than most 12th graders. It's fucking insane. Also the obligatory mention of birthdays that start with "2000-and"
