No, just the Qing who weren't Chinese to begin with. And the Nationalists helped, since the Qing weren't in power since 1912. There were a host of civil wars and the commies won in 1949. China doesn't need a republic. Neither does Russia or Tibet or England.

That would be nice to have a job that allows you to leave before noon on a Friday. I'll be at my office all day tomorrow. It's good to know that the job of president is less consequential than mine.

This mummified corpse can go to hell. Delaware won't provide an escape from what is almost here. All of them will not be able to escape the next 6 to 8 months.

Politics and loyalty are simple. Is Biden corrupt? You betcha. But there's competition between the US as it exists and China (oil, other finite resources). There isn't in Big Tech though, and true, Big Tech favors the Dems. I ask, "so?" China's nothing more than where the manual labor takes place. There isn't even a need to compete here. Some of us remember the Cold War. China can exist in their bubble and so can the US. Big Tech will fall eventually. So will the US and China will get a new dynasty. Hopefully with a proper Emperor and not this commie shit, though they've done pretty well since Deng Xiaoping.

China gave Biden large cash payments during the Obama administration. Biden may have soggy oatmeal for brains, but he knows who pays his bills, and it isn't America.

No doubt. So did Russian oligarchs, and Israelis, and so on. What actual pro-China policies, other than trying to blast China's ally Russia in the Ukraine, has he favored?

Nothing of consequence so far while he has held office, he lifted tariffs on select chinese products last year, and as recently as yesterday debated about lifting them all to curb price increases.

Right. I may hate Biden and defending him even more, but that strikes me as a difference in trade policy with Trump, not specifically and deliberately favoring China. I need more before I buy Biden as China's Manchurian (haha... get it? Manchuria 's in China) candidate.

I was talking to a friend in the military about a video showing DPR conscripts using unencrypted civilian Baofengs a while ago, and his reaction was (paraphrasing) "those guys have better comms equipment than us". It was a bit of a culture shock moment for me when he added that there are some pieces of equipment where he recommends buying a used civilian equivalent because it's better than what the Army has.

I don't know if I should post it here or in the Roe vs Wade/abortion threads but Biden goes much further in craziness if Roe vs Wade is overturned.
President Joe Biden and his staff are considering declaring a public health emergency if Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court, according to a new report.

Biden would use the declaration of a public health emergency to shield doctors from legal liability for treating patients in a state where they are not licensed, according to a report in the New York Times.

Other ideas include allowing doctors practicing in states that ban abortions to perform them on federal sites, such as military bases.

Biden signaled his willingness to use executive action to blunt any state and local laws on abortion during an interview with ABC comedian/activist Jimmy Kimmel.

The president warned that overturning Roe v. Wade would cause a “mini-revolution” in the United States.

“It’s just ridiculous in my view and I don’t think the country will stand for it, but I think what we’re going to have to do, there’s some executive orders I could employ, we believe, we’re looking at that right now,” he said.

Biden’s staff appears more than willing to weaponize emergency and wartime executive powers in politically fraught situations.

The president threatened oil companies in a letter on Wednesday, warning them he was considering using his emergency powers to force the industry to produce more gasoline in the United States.

Earlier this month, the president used the Defensive Production Act to suspend tariffs on solar panels for two years to try and boost the solar industry.

In May, Biden invoked the Defense Production Act to try and address the infant formula shortage.
