Personally I blame the "you're special" movement of the early to mid 90's. An entire generation grew up in an environment in which criticism was considered hate and they were constantly told how special and unique they were. It was the perfect incubator to produce this freak and sjws as a whole.

I still remember when I was very young my grandfather told me "Son a lot of people are going to tell you to be yourself, but If you're a lousy person maybe it's better not to be yourself." That was the single best piece of advice I ever got.
