The first one looks like a pedo recording trying to get a kid into his van, but the second kinda horrified me. Mostly because when Penny takes the small Alpaca into his arms i could see how it was trembling when he lifted it up. If you look at its ears you will see the poor thing is visibly shivering.

I wonder how good these animals' sense of smell is. Can they literally smell the bizarre mixture of testosterone and estrogen in these men? Does it send off any "danger! sick two legged animal nearby! run away!" alarms in these animals' brains?
I imagine some animals, like dogs, might react negatively to the nasty fetid stench of a necrotic stink ditch.

Why do they take the babies away from the mothers? I don't know of any other livestock rearing that says you should do that. Sometimes they separate moms and babies from the rest of the herd for safety with cows and stuff, but it doesn't seem like that's what he's doing here

Phil justifies it by saying alpaca have a tendency to kill their young, which according to people in the thread can happen under certain conditions but the way they described it that doesn't appear to be an issue here as they've clearly accepted the baby and are displaying protective herding behaviour. My personal theory is the tranchers just like hand rearing baby animals and don't care if it distresses them.

To be fair, *all* dairy farming does this, and it’s pretty cruel and unpleasant on a vast scale. But I don’t eat meat or dairy so feel happy enough to criticise the tranchers on this occasion.

Not sure why they’re doing it with these alpaca, I can’t see the need. You don’t do it with lambs unless, again, they’re being weaned so that you can get milk from the mothers.

Could it be that the alpaca mothers aren’t nourished or healthy enough to feed the young properly?

It's this. They like puppies, they like kittens, they like lambs and baby alpaca, just like the true and honest UwU teenage girls they are. They don't give a shit about the animals, it's all about what makes them feel good. And when the babies grow up they ignore them, or they just let them die when they're sick of them.

I wish they had gotten into large cattle ranching so there would be a chance Phil would be stomped to death by mom for pulling this shit.
