Tbf most women in Japan who consume BL don't become Aidens since they acknowledge it's a fantasy and they don't *literally* self-insert for it. Western yaoi fangirls also used not have this issue. There was some crumbling about people making fun of them and that being really mean but beyond that they were comfortable being yaoi fan girls. These girls tend to be awkward and lonely in real life, this was their social circle and friends. I feel this so much. It also makes me more MATI than I'd like to admit when troons bring up Roe vs Wade and that "we(who the fuck is we?) should all stick together to fight this". I'm sure an overturn had been in the books for a while, but they struck while the iron was hot, and that was when no one even fucking knew what a woman was anymore. Males experience plenty of discrimination and attacks from this crowd. It's so common that we are kinda desensitized to it and males are expected to take it without complaining. Witch while otherwise bad will result less bulling in social media do not getting much feedback or attention. This is partly why Johnny Depp Amber Heard trial was such a big deal. A man getting destroyed by a laying woman who got tons protection from media, their employers and activists but instead of just taking it he fights back diligently and wins.

As someone who got sucked into Touhou gacha, that's just pathetic. Sperging here, but every player is referred to as a girl (for the uninitiated, Gensokyo—where the franchise takes place—has only one somewhat-prominent male character out of over 180 named characters). Given the target audience, most of the demographic are male, and as far as I'm aware no one's raised a bitch fit over being forced into a female POV.

I was into the fandom at the very start and troons ruined everything since year two of it. By the time the ninth game (4th for Windows systems) came out, everything was ruined and it's only getting somehow worse over time. I made an elaborate post about it in the past that is not worth repeating, but to summarize there were the fans of pew pew shooty games who wanted to play the damn things and the troons who wanted to rape the characters. Guess which ones declared war and won. This was back in 2005 or so. Troons have been a scourge for that long.

There used to be girls in the early fandom, but they were treated like legitimate shit and forced out. Same for the few Japanese fans that joined to see how the fandom was overseas (and were actually really nice, I'm still good friends with one).

There is an explanation of why shit got so out of hand though.

The creator of the series, a jolly skeletal man going by ZUN, declared he'd not bother to police the canon and people was invited to do whatever with their own fanworks. This has led to a lot of trouble with people monetizing his franchise and mistaking fanworks as official stuff, including a very recent legal skirmish over ownership of "yukkuri" where he was forced to move the legal machine.

Troons (in the west) and opportunists (in Japan) have taken this to mean "there is no canon" and "I can abuse brand recognition" respectively. That's why you see overly cringy and/or full degenerate sexual content that has never existed in the actual games. Other than some grim stuff, because some characters are evil and eat people and whatnot, the games have no sexual content or even romantic relationships. Not even innuendo. A few characters were married at some point but that's only dropped in lore files nobody reads and mostly to set up a tragic background (like Parsee).

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. This is what happens when there's no gatekeeping at all. When not even canon matters you can do whatever.

Oh, and there are more named male characters, but they are ignored because that ruins the LESBIAN FANTASY LAND thing that draws so many troons and incels (same thing) into it. There are lots of unnamed male youkai (like many of the basic stage enemies) and humans as well, but they are not regarded as "power players" in the setting.

BTW, those gacha games, I took a look and they turned my favorite character into fetish shit. FFS. If the actual games weren't good I'd be so outta here.

People have been trying to know who Shad is after all the trash he drew and his stories about being branded a menace to society back in Switzerland and the alleged porn picture he did of his mother. The problem was that in the early days he had a very good defense squad and he constantly stayed anonymous by wearing glasses and a balaclava. But in recent years things have died down as his works also died down.

But if you're saying that Shad doesn't get the same pushback as TERFs get from trannies, you're right on that. Mainly because trannies are a lot more aggresive with people that don't validate their fetish while Shad still had a huge fanbase and by the coomer standards of trannies, there is nothing wrong with him even after drawing pornography of real life children.
