I think a Turks focused game could have been fun if you were your own character and the famous Turks were just ancillary ones you almost never saw except to take missions from Tseng. Same thing could have worked for a SOLDIER focused game.

Remember how they ported the FF15 Phone Version to consoles? Dirge of Cerberus is going to probably come out before the third game and this new mobile phone game they made seems like it will make the jump to consoles just with monetary systems removed.

Oh I love the church roof thing, A turk falls into the same dam hole in before crisis.
Im fairly certain I remember zack not being that flirty. Maybe with Areith, but certainly not Yuffie. She's not voiced and it felt more like a throwaway side quest, as she frequently bugs the shit out of Zack on his phone via text and he never replies.
It kinda was like that in a way. You had multiple characters to choose from, and none of them were officially named as canon except the one that showed up in crisis core, Cissnei.
Unfortunately in the fan game you can only pick one character I believe.

most of the new turks showed up for a little bit in the Last order Ova, but its canon is a bit debatable.
Pretty nice ova. But the reason I say it might be non canon is it's depiction of nibelheim. Specifically in how Sephiroth is defeated.
In the original and Crisis core, cloud royally fucks up Sephiroth and THROWS his ass into the reactor lifestream. in Before Crisis and Last Order, Sephiroth. nonsensically throws himself into the reactor. Im very interested in how Rebirth addresses this.

It is being added to Ever Crisis, according to all reports I find, but that means playing it in this stupid ass 'FF7R Tactical' bullshit they look to be doing, with gacha characters, as well as losing that sick sounding materia scanning system (where you'd take pictures with your 2002 cell-phone, and those pictures would be formed into materia based on whatever critera), as well as the turk rescue system (This one is a bit more blurry in my memory, but IIRC, if you lost, you could either wait out a timer, try with another character, or a player in your area could run a mission to rescue you.)
I'm still going to enjoy playing it, but still.

You know what I just realized? What if the reason they can finish this thing in 3 parts is because they aren't even going to get as far as the original game?

Final Fantasy's been dead for such a long time, I've accepted that my Final Fantasy is gone, and fans of modern Final Fantasy are fans of a different series with the same name. It's like a Shakespeare scholar getting mad at Hamlet 2.

For all the worry of cutting shit down, people forget FF7 is actually super fucking thin on content. Most of it's length comes from random battles and reading. There aren't many locations with a lot of time spent in them. Midgar is one of them, Junon is another, and that's really about it, unless you count the Highwind itself. Most of the cities you go to in 7 only really have you there for one or two plot points, not counting return trips.
Kalm just has the flashback, you stop by the chocobo ranch to get the materia, Costa Del Sol has you talking to Hojo sunning himself in a lab coat, corel has racial hate and another flash-back.
Even if they take the time to flesh these places out, there's not a lot, plotwise, you can do there, so it's not unthinkable to wrap up an entire disc and a half in a single game.

FF6 has more towns and A-to-B style dungeons than 7, and each town is doubled due to being redesigned in the latter half of the game.
Modern games have fewer towns (lots of work for too little return), and they focus on fewer yet more complex dungeons, as well.

Also, I never noticed he's just reclining in a big ol' beanbag chair. The details of his old sprite were a hard to make out in-game.

But to be fair, that's a big problem in most Silver age FF. They just kind of throw shit in, and tell you to go fuck yourself. Why are there just random wolves in V? What's the deal with the Archfiends in 4? Why does 2 exist?
Questions make up a shit ton silver/bronze age FF.

Yeah, that's a thing I love about older games in general, they're just full of tons of weird characters like that. I don't ever want some logical explanation as to who and what Owzer is, I just like saying "who is that guy?" and thinking about his life on my own. It's kinda like the muppets, they're just colorful characters who are who they are.
