For whatever reason I remembered back in the day caffeine was a big thing around the time I was out of high school and I remember buying shit like caffeine pills, Bawls soda, and even something called Black-Black gum which was supposedly gum infused with caffeine. So what dumb shit have you bought on either a trend or in your youth?

Vitamin water. I heard it was good for you but a family member who is a doctor told me all the excessive vitamins is hell on your kidneys
Do they still make that shit? I remember there was a black/purple one that was called Triple X or something but I don't think I've seen any of their products in a decade.

I once tried to buy a shirt from some chink bitch on Etsy, turned out she was a scammer and deleted her account a week after I bought the item - it obviously wasn't ever shipped. I opened a case with Etsy stating what happened and like three hours later I got my money back. Lesson learned: if you shop on Etsy and the item says it's made in China, or it's shipped from China, don't waste your time. And always look at the reviews, on pretty much all of the "fast fashion" seller profiles, there are low ass ratings.

They still make it but I assume they arent nearly as popular as they used to be. It used to be everywhere back in the day but now I've only seen it online

For some reason I thought Whole Foods bought the brand but looking at it now, looks like Coke did. I'm surprised it flopped so hard that you're more likely to see Moxie on shelves than Vitamin Water these days. I wonder how many other things like that I'd get all the time and just don't remember at all.

Edit: Also looks like Vitamin Water is all about rappers now.

I already know it’s a scam, but does anyone remember poetry.com?

I submitted a poem on that website in middle school that I’m sure was dogshit awful, got a letter informing me how brilliant and avant-garde my scribblings were and for just $49.99 I could buy a leather bound book with my poem published for all the world to marvel at.

My 13 year old dumbass self actually managed to convince my mom to buy that damn book.

how is caffeine a scam tho?

There is a brand of fountain pens that is very expensive and whose cartridges are not compatible with other fountain pens, so you have to buy their pens with their cartridges. It was the only brand they sold at my local store and for a year I bought and used that fucking pen. The pen was nothing special and the worst part was that I couldn't help out the other pupils by giving them cartridges and vice versa because they weren't compatible.

I bought a lot of shit from China when I was 15-16, the only thing I dont regret buying at all & thought was worth 100% my money was my MAGA hat, because I got it for less than $2

I still remember Mr. S's face when he saw us passing around a MAGA hat, he was the type of guy that calls Trump "Dumpf", our other English teacher, Mr. D was much less enthusiastic about it, kicked a student out of class for wearing it (yet he is much more of centrist/independent party voter than Mr. S, who was a staunch LA type democrat)

For $2 I got to see two Americans have a public meltdown in class because of a hat, I think it was worth it

A few years ago I bought some old PC game on ebay (which was very autistic of me do in the first place) for around $27 total but the fucker never shipped it out and he never responded to my emails. It was then that I realized that he had a lot of bad reviews from buyers warning people not to order from him because he never ships stuff out and never responds to customers, and that was how I learned that anything below 98% rating on ebay is very bad. Of course ebay's customer service was fucking terrible because they are completely useless and I had to call my back and ask them to do a chargeback to get my money back. Fuck that guy and fuck ebay, also the guy's account is closed now.

This is only true if you already eat a balanced diet that provides said vitamins. Otherwise, they're likely your body's only significant source. This is why multivitamins are considered a supplement not a source. Vitamin water and other vitamin infused consumables exist for people with poor diets.

Bullshit. I sell on Ebay and they are batshit insane about protecting buyers. Sellers have almost zero to no rights on Ebay they are serious about scammers. You can get your seller account suspended from three strikes via negative reviews it's that bad. If this occured in early 2000s, I would understand, but post-2010 Ebay is very no-nonsense. Ebay used to have a reputation for scamming and they've made a massive effort to turn that around.

I have also sold products on Amazon and your story more aligns with how Amazon treats buyers (assuming the Amazon Fulfillment service is not utilized for the listing involved).

Caffeine isn't a scam, but rather all the tat around it was the scammy part. I think one guy even bought caffeine infused soap, that's how big the fad was. I think it was this brand, but the packaging was different back then

Teachers are human scum most of the time.

That's odd, usually if something gets fucked I just have to select the "item didn't arrive" or whatever on a drop down menu and they usually refund the money within a few days or a week at most.
