I'd say yes, provided they aren't a commission artist themselves or don't do trades of some kind in a way where that sort of expense could arguably be evened out.

Blowing the culmulative amount of an entire retirement fund in NEETbux or hard-earned money over the span of a couple years on a one-man marketing campaign of furry artwork, suits, con badges, etc. for a single fursona should definitely qualify as a financial fuckup.

Out of all "furry services" you can waste your money on, probably the most frustrating one are adoptables. If for a commission you get original finished artwork or at least a unique fursuit, adoptables are literally just lazy/sketchy colored bases sold that can reach up to 1k and above.

Here are some artists with semi-passable work that make an entire bank out of their rainbow purple wolves.

She has been mentioned here before, but this is a perfect thread for her.
Bambi (or bratblush) is a 24-year-old "satanist" and a "certified brat", that has been thriving off of the furry adoptable community. She is into Neopets, Disney, Scene/Sparkle Dogs, and Hot Topic with the exact same capitalist consoomer mentality you get the impression of.

Her typing "0ffer", "Sh0//p", "pr30rder", and prices with emojis is not an edgy typing quirk, but a way of censoring words that the Twitter algorithm filters, because God forbid people couldn't see her 200$ pink moodboard dogs.

Another known artist in the fandom is Vani, a black ADHD zodiac (presumably BPD and unemployed) they/them furry artist, whose art style is good enough to make her bases sell up to 50$ a batch quite often and get frequent donations on her Ko-FI.

She is the absolute embodiment of "a financially struggling American".
Despite people wanting to pay her, she is constantly complaining about her finances, from rent to vet bills, she doesn't miss an opportunity to remind her followers how badly she needs money for rent and sometimes e-begs, aside from adding to the terminally online 60k tweets on her timeline.

There are more designs, but you get the point. All of them circle around ~1000$ AB and people auto-buy them out almost instantly like hot cakes, they don't even wait for a complete reference or even a full body at this point.

I can't even be mad at these people, they found an easy way to make as much money with as little work as possible. Ngl if I could draw well enough, I'd probably try to milk 1K here and 1K there monthly out of dumbass autistic queer furfaggots.

I cannot believe we're 3 pages in and none of us brought up Togepi1125, the guy who commissions a lot of Macro, Swol Star Fox art
He's apparently responsible for a large amount of Macro Falco x Fox art you may have seen around the internet (his gallery containing around 2,700 commissioned art pieces on his FA alone), spanning the course of over 11 years now.

Firstly, he works in the "health care field" but claims he is not a Heart Surgeon or a Neurosurgeon as some have claimed to believe.
Secondly, he's 34 years old, single, and still lives with his parents in South Korea so he doesn't have to pay rent or loans. He spends half of his salary on commissioned art and he quotes "can't save money much, but I think getting good commission arts are more important for me." He's even commissioned art from Miles-DF before, which as you know is notorious for their overpriced commision rates.

Other than that, I don't think there's really much else to the guy other than perhaps being responsible for the "suspeciously wealthy furry" stereotype we see today.

You know, I'd expect this from the Japanese - Hikikomori for sure. But South Korean? And having a job no less? I can't imagine spending half my pay on commissions (mainly because I like having shelter and food) and still living with my parents, not to mention them knowing about a fursuit under their roof. Sounds terminally online for sure. What a waste of potential and money.

He commissioned Miles-DF when Miles-DF was charging $200-$400 for fully rendered single character images where you could choose your pose and have a background included. Those were considered reasonable to the furry community back then. Miles-DF no longer has prices that low for what togepi1125 was able to buy, nor is it something anyone could ever commission from Miles-DF again given that he's currently on a drug spiral into addiction hell.

See, how the word "deserve" is used here is an enigma to me. "The poor deserve to throw their money away for sexual pleasure?" A big chunk of furries are absolutely delusional when it comes to what they believe they "deserve." I know that I do not deserve anything, as nothing in this world is guaranteed. When people like this say they "deserve" things such as shelter & food, it's often implied that there's no expectation it should be earned via contributing to the society that provides it. To these people life is something that should only be enjoyed, with actual effort to provide positive change to their community replaced by virtue signaling, thinking that is more than satisfactory.

I know that like most threads, this one will find its way outside of the farms. When it does, some of the degenerates mentioned here will find it and feel they need to respond. If we're lucky, they'll come here and go on a huge, embarrassing tangent to try to justify their actions. More likely than not they'll stay on their social network hugbox and rant there. When they do, be sure to archive the coping and seething at how they justify their actions.

So it's not just Louie who is a lazy, jobless, grifting, financially irresponsible, retarded man-child who wastes (other people's) money on frivolous bullshit they don't need instead of earning their own money or taking care of financial necessities. Pretending to live in a fictional world cannot make you happy - a fictional character will never love you and you will never be anything else than a human living in our current world. You are real, your family and friends are real, your life is real but your fursona or an oc is not. You just have to deal with it or else you might become a laughing stock, a degenerate outcast or just fucking deprressed.

Sounds to me that if their life is so bankrupt of any meaning/purpose/value that they'll put themselves in life ruining debt to make their sick-fuck degenerate fantasies "feel more real", then they would be better served by improving themselves and their own lives instead. They would have more money, less stress, and have more personal satisfaction by putting effort into improving themselves and their lives instead of wasting their efforts on chasing a coom or bringing their deviant fetish fantasies to life. And the jobless, worthless, lazy-ass fuckers who get everything by mooching off of other people because they think they're too good to work an honest job to support themselves, well...those kind of retards can go Minecraft themselves and save the world a problem.
