People talk about liking their normal voices often, but am I the only one who hears Kiki and thinks she sounds like a NY stereotype? Also I don't see people praising her normal voice, just hating her Kiara voice more. (I still like her speaking German though).

I honestly feel that way about all of the Myth members, minus Ina, she already doesn't put on a voice. Thankfully, Crunchyroll Dubvoice Calli has been gone for over a year too.

I would extend it to HL in general. It sucks Suisei had medical issues but holy fuck her actual voice is so much better. IIRC she even had some insecurity about her voice originally, I have no idea why, I think her voice is wonderful. Does anyone from the west actually like the cutesy anime voices girls do? Even in YouTube comments you see people talking about how deep voices Bae, Suisei, etc are all so much better.


That said I 100% understand why girls fake the voice since it helps protect their identity, but they all sound better naturally. Sorry Marine.

In one case. Haachama's silly Haachama voice is easier for me to understand than her real one.

In Japan vocal pitch is more strongly "gendered" (sexed actually) than in most countries. They value the difference, and both sexes exaggerate it in some contexts. Tubers are, fundamentally, cartoon girls, and they want and are wanted to sound like that. Anglosphere dudes' idea of "sex voice" is more like "adult woman" (Kronii, e.g.) and JP dudes' is more like "the opposite of myself."
