Not exactly on-topic, but: what on earth is going on here?

And then if you click over to another Reuters troons-in-sports article it's also written by that same pajeet, but with a Budapest tagline.
In fact, looking at the current sports headlines on Reuters, half of them seem to be written either in Bangalore or Bombay. The proportion is smaller in the "real news" section, but is Reuters essentially just an offshore operation now? Who knew?

Anyway - did anyone go to that Cycling BC Zoom call? Did "Little Argie-Bargie" win his election?

"There hasn't been a single peer-reviewed study on trans women competitive swimmers to show that there's any competitive advantage for transitioning post puberty," Ivy said.

"So to single out puberty as the break-off point isn't based on any evidence, it's not based on them seeing an advantage for trans women, they have only looked at cisgender male athletes compared to cisgender female athletes.

"That's not how this works. When you're trying to single out trans women, you need to study trans women athletes... FINA has not done that."
Rhys is so good. I can see why everyone works so hard to keep him out of sight rather than send him into debate, the battle against the TERFs would be too unfair if he were allowed to demolish their arguments with this one weird trick.

"Why does FINA refuse to study these women to confirm if they perform like women or not? Curious. I am very smart."

Here we go! Of course he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

Trans athlete Ivy slams FINA policy as 'unscientific' (archive)

Trans athlete Ivy slams FINA policy as 'unscientific'
By Shrivathsa Sridhar

BENGALURU, June 21 (Reuters) - Transgender cyclist Veronica Ivy questioned the move by swimming's governing body FINA to restrict the participation of trans athletes in elite women's competitions, telling Reuters that there had not been enough research to guide such decisions.

Ivy also criticised FINA's plans to explore an "open" category as part of its policy that was passed following a vote at its extraordinary general congress on Sunday, saying such a move does not show respect to trans athletes.

FINA's decision, the strictest by any Olympic sports body, came after members heard a report from a transgender task force comprising medical, legal and sports figures. read more

The new eligibility policy for FINA competitions states that male-to-female transgender athletes are eligible to compete only if "they have not experienced any part of male puberty beyond Tanner Stage 2 (of puberty) or before age 12, whichever is later."

Canadian Ivy, who in 2018 became the first transgender UCI masters world track cycling champion by winning in the women's 35-44 years category, described FINA's policy as "unscientific".

With the world championships currently taking place in Budapest, FINA was not immediately available for comment.

But FINA's contention that trans women athletes retain some physical advantages despite testosterone suppression after going through male puberty has been backed by a study from Joanna Harper, a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University.

That paper concluded "strength may be well preserved" in trans women during the first three years of hormone therapy.

'MEANINGFUL COMPETITION'
"It's reasonable to put restrictions on trans women in international level sports competitions," Harper said, adding she was disappointed but not surprised by FINA's policy.

"Restricting participation to only those trans women who have never experienced male puberty is not necessary to ensure meaningful competition for all women.

"In terms of the open category, I'm sceptical, but I'll reserve judgment until I see the finished product. Will there be Olympic medals in swimming in the open category? Will swimmers in that category be able to earn a living as professionals?"

The debate surrounding trans women athletes has intensified after University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas became the first transgender NCAA champion in Division I history after winning the women's 500-yard freestyle this year.

Ivy said that FINA's decision was likely because of Thomas, who has not won a world title or participated in the Olympics.

"In the United States trans people are under attack... People trying to outlaw treatments and access to healthcare and sport... politicians calling for us to be murdered," she said.

"That's the context in which we see something like this."

Harper said it was important for sports bodies to continue collecting data.

"I'd suggest that whatever decisions they make today, they review them regularly and hopefully, as more and better data is published, they make better policies," Harper said.
Two points. One, you don’t need a study. All you need is that photo of tub-of-lard Rhys on the podium grinning like a special needs kid, next to two women who don’t make up his weight combined.

Two, the “context in which we see something like this” is irrelevant, and is the kind of thinking that got us into this mess. All that matters is physical reality.
Rhys is fat. His argument is invalid.
To be fair, he probably knows a fair bit about swimming, being as how any boat he steps on instantly sinks.

I wonder how many RSVPs they got from accounts named things like RhysIsAMan1488.

EDIT: So I just read the Reuters story and I can't help but to wonder what "Shrivathsa Sridhar in Bengaluru" actually thinks about what the fat doctor had to say. They have a third gender in India, but they aren't treated like women. Not really treated like people, either.

Well I guess I got my answer as to why Troony McTroonface has been so quiet on Twatter... He was saving up to explode in a narc rage in a poorly reasoned take by Reuters. My favorite section was this:

"That's not how this works. When you're trying to single out trans women, you need to study trans women athletes... FINA has not done that."

But FINA's contention that trans women athletes retain some physical advantages despite testosterone suppression after going through male puberty has been backed by a study from Joanna Harper, a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University.

They basically set him up, let him make his point, then immediately pointed out that yes, they have studied "trans woman athletes", and he's completely, utterly wrong.

My second favorite section was this:

"In the United States trans people are under attack... People trying to outlaw treatments and access to healthcare and sport... politicians calling for us to be murdered," she said.

HAHAHAHA! Listen to this whiny faggot! Yes, people are trying to outlaw "treatments". For minors. Because minors don't have the mental capacity or sound judgment to make permanently life-altering, irrevocable decisions about their bodies. Also, minors are notoriously indecisive and prone to hop into fads on a whim. When said fad is getting into Goth or being a Scene kid, they can change their mind and look back at their cringy behavior with no harm done. On the other hand, when said fad is trooning out, there is no going back from taking cross-sex hormones or getting a double mastectomy or getting your dick and balls cut off.

And I haven't heard a single politician in the US calling for the murder of troons. Imprisonment for grooming vulnerable kids, yes, but outright murder? No. But then again, since "words are violence", maybe he's equating criticism with being literally murdered.

So does anyone know if Troony McTroonface was elected to the board of BC cycling?

"There hasn't been a single peer-reviewed study on trans women competitive swimmers to show that there's any competitive advantage for transitioning post puberty,"

Nearly every argument he makes is in bad faith. His basic premise that transwomen don't have a competitive advantage over women is indefensible because reality tells us otherwise. And he doesn't actually want these studies to be performed because he knows what the outcome will be. It's a way to move the goalposts. Think about how difficult it would be to do the study he had proposed. You would need a non-trivial number of transwomen who are not only competitive swimmers but who have also medically transitioned before puberty. That cohort doesn't exist (and hopefully never will). Also, it's funny that he's calling for this kind of study when you know he'd turn around and denounce it for being transphobic.

Rhys's arguments are basically that if a man is a mediocre performer and that means that they should be eligible to perform in the female category... which pretty much sums up how much he hates women. He just views them as inferior males.

He uses a kind of 'god of the gaps' argument
i can imagine him in 2040 (if the beetus doesn't kill him first) arguing that while transwoman might have dominated the last few olympics, most gold medals in history have been won by cis women so there's clearly no advantage

and then cyber rhys in 2240 arguing that yes human transwomen have won every olympics in the last century, but the gargylops females are actually bigger and stronger than the mtf gargylops so there's clearly no advantage

whoever granted him a phd is utterly retarded, his argumentation skills are Ray Comfort level

Found one. No luck on the others yet.

We'll find out soon enough but I will be impressed if Rhys got elected and managed to stay quiet all day. That would mean he stayed sober. One day at a time, Gravy.

Also I found this on Twitter. I'll see about finding the rest if I stay bored.

(And none for Rhys Wieners)
TBF these are all accomplished athletes and business people. Tristen Chernove is apparently a legit celebrity (at least on instagram). Rhys really didn't have a chance. As much as I would have liked the milk, it is reassuring that there are still standards in woke BC. Rhys just goes from failure to failure. At this point I can't even recommend he apply at Canadian Tire, I'm not sure they'd take him.

It's okay Rhys, they'll hire you in Nunavut. That PhD has still gotta be worth something. Go North my boy, and groom the Inuit leaders of tomorrow!

2 years ago, when troon was fashionable and the latest thing, even a pig like Rhys probably would have got on the board.

In 4 years he has gone from employed professor, in a position you should be in for life, and who was being interviewed by serious media, left and right, and set to win masters world champs year on year to being an unemployed and unemployable fat bum(literally), who lives with his mum, who nobody gives two hoots about and the only interviews now are with Pajeet Cow Owners Monthly. All his own work, too, which is quite impressive.

I dug into Simon Evans, the writer listed as one of the contributors in the that article and he's the reuters sports correspondent. It's shit tier sports reporting to fill out the "sports" tab on the site. There's no insights, analysis or anything just 450-600 word AP style articles about mundane sports bullshit.

They needed a story for the 24 hour news cycle, Rhys had some kind of in with that pajeet woman and is terminally online. I don't think anyone at reuters actually cares about troons.

Rhys lives in a parallel universe. Not even in openly hating troon countries, like russia and ukraine, have politicians called for murder. He really is a wanker.....oh,....no he can't do that.
I'm almost certain he's referring to Pastor Mark Burns, a weirdo televangelist and conspiracy theorist, who is technically a politician because he's running as a candidate in the GOP primary for one of South Carolina's House seats (SC-04) which he also did in 2018 (he got 2.5% of the vote), he went on an internet talk show and said parents of trans kids should be convicted for treason. This is obviously proof, especially if all you read is trans Twitter and people who obsessively watch "right-wing" internet content to warn others about it, of an active Literal Genocide of all LGBTQIA2S+ people being planned by the highest levels of the Republican Party. It was all over trans Twitter the other day before they moved onto the next thing.

Did the whole thing come from the Australian SBS sixty second interview? I don't know if they're a major network, but their website looks like that way. It seems convenient that he'd get a network spot and then some curry-spun Reuters article pops up everywhere. Don't news companies have some kind of story-sharing agreement? I have no idea but it seems that way.

Here is the Link [archive] to SBS hosting the video, and here is the Link [archive] to the story to which the original tweet [archive] pointed.

Damn that's awkward, but I think I got it right. Fuck you McKinnon.

Nah, if the Inuit catch sight of him they might mistake him for a beluga that somehow grew legs and nail him with a harpoon so they can make muktuk out of his blubbery ass.
