Democrats won't go with the tax holiday because they don't want to lose any of that revenue, in 2019 the US government got nearly 53 billion dollars in revenue for the gas tax. Also the Democrats want this to be painful, they want people to struggle so they swear off gas, Democrats goal is to control everything and the one thing they have wanted to control for years is the energy sector of our economy.

I don't believe that Texas even has the legal (well 'legal') ability to secede but instead to split the state into smaller states. Or at least that's what I've heard and could be misled on. Mind, even if they DID have the legal ability to do so I doubt that the government would allow it. Even if the vote passed they'd drum up a fake report on it being infiltrated or influenced unfairly by outside forces then immediately rush in to keep in check.

Texas has screamed about their 'right to secede' since becoming a state and will never stop it despite it being an empty threat.
Exactly what are the feds gonna do if Texas does secede? Send in the 47th Diversity and Inclusion Battalion?

It's not a good idea to brag about a miniscule price drop when you're still at a net increase of over 100%. It reminds me of last year when they were bragging how they made 4th of July barbeques cost like 16 cents less but only on a few different foods.
It's fine, he still has the media propping him up with gems that really resonate with the common folx.

>"There are literally people for whom the inflation rate means that they'll only have two meals a day instead of three....."
AND WHO'S FAULT DO YOU THINK THAT IS?! I'LL GIVE YOU A LITTLE HINT: IT'S THE SAME PERSON YOU'RE RUSHING TO DEFEND. SHEBOON HOUSE NIGGERESS BITCH.

I am mystified why they think they can have all this <vague handwave> without the gossamer thread that is civilization.

The shittiest places in the world have this mindset, but even those despots depend on the modern West for arms and luxury goods.

We are living Chesterton’s Fence in the They Live universe.
They think their bunkers will be like the Fallout vaults when they strip mine the civility out of civilization. Protip, assholes; people can't make those luxury goods for you when they can't put food on their tables
Biden: "Lower your gas prices NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!"

He desperately wants some kind of good talking point for Independence Day, but that counts on the rest of his party playing ball for two weeks :story:
Honestly, if people just ignored Trump and didn't hold him up such a pedestal, we wouldn't be in such a predicament.
While it's a shit idea to hold Trump up on a pedestal, you might want to take a look past your idolization of Hillary Clinton and realize that Trump was the first politician within a generation to actively make standards of living better for Americans. All the rest? Actively walked them down each term.

Any win's a win in their eyes but people have been paying attention. I remember seeing the price of gas shoot up a good twenty cents in the space of one work shift. You can't hide shit like that.

Hardly empty. No amount of legalities stop an armed and sufficiently determined population from doing a thing. Look how Ukraine faired when they gave up nukes for documents and assurances from Russia.

At the end of the day, all the legal bitching over secession and its legality stops at the part of the constitution that says you can overthrow your government and put a new one in place. It would be a fair interpretation to say the standing Texas government could replace itself with a new government, one that is not the state of Texas, but the Country of Texas, a successor entity that does not recognize the union as its superior. Such a moves legality would be determined by who is willing to fight to stop it and who will fight to ensure it is not stopped.

That's the real reason any serious talk of secession is a worrying sign - it will always be determined by the barrel of a gun, whether by threat of violence or use of violence.

Draw battle lines and use the far greater supply of military hardware as swiftly as possible. I really don't think Texas will ever properly do so as that would mean the powers that be have not already slammed their fingers into every single politician's pie in the state.

Texas actually getting serious about seceding would be a glowie's wet dream.

To expand on this: they're transparently trying to damage-control for an administration currently polling underwater (under 50%) in 48 of the 50 United States. For Christ's sake, Biden recently polled underwater in Massachusetts, a state which, from my understanding, would elect Adolf Hitler in a Gucci tux if only he ran as a fucking Democrat. Gun control, red flags, Roe v. Wade being overturned, and the proposed gas tax holiday are all contentious distractions, but most importantly, they're not fucking working anymore, as evidenced by the increasingly unhinged rantings of the administration they're intending to protect (WE'RE CHANGING PEOPLE'S LIVES, IT'S THE GAS COMPANIES' FAULT, THERE IS NO IMMINENT RECESSION).
