Infanticide is actually something that's been a part of every society for most of history, even if it was taboo to discuss openly. Abandoning unwanted infants was also usually effectively infanticide, since survival prognosis for abandoned newborns was poor back when. Tbh smothering/drowning/etc them to get the inevitable over with quickly was probably more humane than leaving them to die of exposure outside or in a pile of manure or w/e.

Medically ectopic pregnancies aren't considered pregnancies BECAUSE they're non viable. Everything is legal unless there's a law against it, so I doubt that will ever come up.
