Well I can honestly say I did exaclty as I was asked. I got to know some trans people, I read everything there was to read to educate myself and came out of those experiences "transphobic".

But now that it's becoming mainstream more and more people are waking up.
Occasionally you'll even have someone here genuinely believe the "true and honest trans" argument and of course it comes from a place of ignorance but it's exactly what transmeds push ETA it's also the stance I'm seeing a lot of soft peaked normies use, but like everything relating to TRA you have to remember these people are a bunch of autists, you can't just gently hint your disdain and expect them to pick up that cue. Shit like this always cracks me up. I have a fairly robust set of biology quals (up to phd in genetics), and watching these loons butcher the field is a hoot. Even with relatively simply traits our understanding of the mechanistic processes that generate them is still in its infancy. Heck we still aren't entirely sure how human height comes about beyond knowing that probably 500-800 genes are involved, after the guts of 200 years of study.

The casual nature with which they draw on biological processes to support arguments is stunningly naive. You can't just regurgitate buzz phrases from cell signalling, epigenetics etc and suddenly will knowledge into existence. This can only happen with study which won't happen for three primary reasons I think. Firstly no sane researcher in their right mind would touch this with a twenty foot pole... it is too niche and affects too few people; secondly to produce reliable results would require a longitudinal study the like of which would be unthinkably expensive given the base rate of troonism; thirdly can anyone serious suggest a mechanism for how this might come about outside of social conditioning? isn't it obvious given that it only really occurs in humans.

Take something like the EPICN, which was a study involving 500,000 people, the conclusions drawn are not half a certain as our deluded troon and that's with actual data. Or even look at the molecular mechanism of type II diabetes... we certainly know the gross causation, but the mode of action is by no means known in the conventional sense of the word, certainly not enough to make robust predictions on a case by case basis. It is still a hotly researched topic, no doubt in part due to the huge benefits that occur once it is resolved and more effective drugs can be developed.

That a single hormone can have such broad ranging only positive effects, when not 10 years ago we were (and still are) deeply concerned about the distinctly known negative effects that endrocrine disruption has on healthy bodies.

I know these folk are more likely to have comorbidities of ASD, ADHD, NPD etc, but can we through Dunning-Kruger into the mix too?

There's an interview with Willam Belli from Drag Race where he's asked about his first sexual experience, and he casually admits that he was having sex with men in swimming pool change rooms when he was a child. The interviewer, a gay man, asks if he consented, and Willam happily blames himself. No real pushback. No cut. That sums up the drag scene. A transgender woman in Tennessee is asking the state to make a consistent ruling about her gender after a government office labeled her a male but police arrested her on a female-specific charge.

Andrea Jones of Morristown, Tenn., who had gender reassignment surgery and has been recognized as a woman by the Social Security office, decided to make a statement after her local Tennessee Department of Safety office refused to let her change the gender on her driver’s license from male to female.

She walked out to the parking lot and removed her shirt, which she reasoned would be acceptable if the state recognized her as male.

Instead she was arrested for indecent exposure.

The police report even referred to her as a man: “Mr. Jones continued to yell that he had the right to show his breasts in public,” it read, “and wanted to be recognized as a female.”

“If I was a male, I had the right to, when I stepped out the door, take off my shirt,” Jones said.

Jones says even though she has a “statement from a surgeon saying I no longer had my testicles,” the Department of Safety told her she would need more proof to be listed as female on her license.

“It’s not right for the state to ask me to be both male and female,” Jones told local TV station WATE 6. “A choice needs to be made. They cannot hold me to both standards.”

The Department of Safety told the news channel that a gender change can be made on a license “if an applicant presents a doctor’s statement indicating that a full sex change has occurred and the procedure is complete.”

Which means for now Jones will be considered a female by the Social Security office but a male to the Department of Safety — and evidently the police department.
