I feel a little bad for left-leaning people right now. They got a useless, barely-symbolic "gun control" bill passed that effectively does nothing but are being told that it is a big deal. And in a year when this does nothing, they're going to be even angrier than they are today after apparently suffering two huge losses in two days.

If they weren't such massive pricks, I'd feel a little worse for them.

They stand for nothing and have no unifying principles other than wantonly destroying the fabric of America. The only thing being hurt by these developments is their pride.

Which is funny since so much of this is happening during Pride Month™.

What's even funnier is if the Left tries to cite Eastern religions as more tolerant of sexual deviancy to justify a strictly secular approach to the government's involvement with the institution of marriage, they will find that their understanding of faiths like Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, et al are extremely off as none of these religions aren't particularly soft on homosexuality any more than their Abrahamic neighbors in the West. Protestant congregations flying rainbow flags outside their churches, reformed Judaism where everyone is just a left-leaning atheist but don't want to renounce being Jewish because of the associated social capital, and those handful of weird mosques in Germany that allow women to be imams are all postmodern responses to irreconcilable aspects of their respective faiths and are definitely in the minority since most of the people who make up the LGBT lobby in this country are probably atheists anyway, hence why they use Christianity as a scapegoat to every obstacle they face in getting what they want out of society (which to be fair, has worked pretty effectively for the past 20 years).

Normally here is where I would say "the more you do this the easier it gets" but... we kinda just -did- hit the end point of that. Roe was -the- sacred cow of the courts. The untouchable decision. The one put on the highest position. And they -struck it down-.

And now its open game for any decision that didn't have a solid backup reasoning. Gay marriage is probably going to stand because it had some, ironically stronger than its main argument, backup reasoning. But there are a lot of decisions passed down by Roberts and Co that just might get revisited too. Its now all open game.

How likely is it that gay marriage will become the new sacred cow of the Left and we gotta deal with this whole fiasco all over again in a couple years?

Frankly I would rather that the state stay out of the institution of marriage entirely so the possibility of the ruling back in 2015 being reversed isn't quite something I'd lose sleep over, although it will probably means that states will be legalizing it one by one again the way they were already leading up to the aforementioned ruling.

I remember the left celebrating a group of fags in Japan managing to push a same sex marriage court decision and it was the next step to be declared constitutional only for their version of the supreme court to say that homo marriage is not in the constitution and never will so everything fall apart super quickly

The fact they are saying they aren't in favor of it means they are looking into doing it. It's just not politically viable right now. With Biden declaring war on the court i am a bit hopefully SCOTUS may pick up an election case if fuckery takes place in the midterms/24.

The argument that anti-gay legislation is proportional to the religiosity of a nation is absurd when you take into account that Japan is one of the most secular nations in the world, not to mention they approach religion by a very different metric than the West anyways, making the whole thing a false equivalency to begin with.

Roe isn't the real untouchable questionable decision. I know it won't happen, but just imagine if, right before retiring, Thomas gives us a reversal of Lochner or Wickard v. Filburn.

The Japanese tend to be very syncretic in their practice, so they can follow both Shinto and Buddhism at the same time. "Shinto for the festivals, Buddhism for the afterlife" is a fairly common attitude, and Shintoism is more like highly-developed superstition and folklore than a philosophical religion in the Western sense.
