Reminder that the new California gov’t destroyed nearly every reservoir in the state “for the sake of the environment“. It was once a really good idea to grow those crops, because they once had the infrastructure to support it. They elected children to run the state.

I agree that Californians are retarded when it comes to forest management policy, but feel the need to point out that the imported Eucalyptus is almost entirely along the coastal range, and it's not the reason surrounding forests keep catching fire.
Like, maybe in the very edges of the Oakland Hills, you can blame a forest fire on eucalyptus, but most of the fires CA cries about happen in evergreen forests further inland than the spots that have all the Aussie trees.

My mother was going on about how protesters need to keep fighting for abortion rights.

We live in New York, where it's been almost two decades since a Republican has been elected governor. We have Democrat supermajorities who riled up after yesterday, and Hochul is probably that much of a clout chaser, she'll sign any easily-passed legislation to turn the state into a no-limit abortion sanctuary a la Colorado. The politically ignorant will be the end of us.

A friend of mine who lives in north Cali detailed to me that not only did they shut down existing resevoirs, but they put a complete moratorium on new ones, despite the fact that by all accounts, them being active during the rainy season would have virtually sidestepped the drought crisis.

Sound familiar to anyone? It's basically what Biden did with the oil industries.
