considering there are 11 other games following it, statistically one is bound to be.I'm sure it'll be a big hit![]()
Famous last words. If Nintendo can barely hang in the mobile market there's no way Sony will do anything of note unless it's riding off an anime or something, considering there are 11 other games following it, statistically one is bound to be.
You sure about Bungie making at least one game on mobile? Not sure how that would go down, considering the type of developer they are and the lack of experience they have on that platform. You aren't seeing many consumers clamouring for full fledged mobile gaming experiences anymore, in fact that hasn't been a thing really for over a decade, when everyone and their dog had an ipod touch in 08/09.considering there are 11 other games following it, statistically one is bound to be.
It's already been happening for Playstation when you take into consideration how bad the PS game sales were last year and continue to get worse for this year too.Seeing Playstation lose it's biggest stronghold will be funny as hell if it happens. Largely cause they're probably the most annoying fuckers going, and literally the only people who still give a shit about the console war.
From the Media Create White Book 2022-Nintendo had 83,39% share of the console game market last year
-There were 542 games on Nintendo systems in the top 1000 of 2021 (up from 520 in 2020, meaning it's the first year in history that Nintendo > Sony in # of games)
-For multiplatform releases, the Switch version was the best selling one in over 90% of cases
-PlayStation has noted the lowest game software sales since 1994
I remember posting this comparison picture once before but it's relevant to this discussion, and also reflect how America and Japan sees female beauty in fictional media. This is also nu-Sony from California, which means even Nintendo's lightly risque output's gonna be a thousand times more risque than anything Sony would ever do now, and I doubt Japan's gonna go for stronk fat black women or whatever cuck shit they decide to implement.
Yeah as someone who used to delve into gacha autism for a long while, unless your game is anime as fuck it basically goes nowhere compared to what you can get save for random as fuck shooters literally no one here has likely heard about that actually out revenue COD of all things apparently due to the Korean market. I also don't know if the very narrative cinematic focused track Sony is going for works, some gachas have (written) plots people care about but they're sold in ways beyond presentation as the presentation is more akin to a 2000s era DS RPG. So music (some gachas have quite solid video game music and some even have full blown produced music videos), writing, and world building that keeps people on their toes and speculating are more relevant for long term engagement then just good designs and cinematic camera shit as that crap is too compressed to be as effective as you'd want it to be due to the small screen. I've seen SE try big cinematic videos for their projects, and it looks just eh because the screen is too tiny to make it as good as it should be. Oh and if you're going for that "hero collector" type of gacha, you need some kind of attractive characters who appeal to lonely salary men, which uh....we know how that's going.Famous last words. If Nintendo can barely hang in the mobile market there's no way Sony will do anything of note unless it's riding off an anime or something,
Which is beyond retarded because you're cherry picking(Horizon is made by a Dutch Studio and I don't remember them ever being American), if it had any merit to it then the Xbox narrative of it somehow taking Japan then holds less than zero waterI remember posting this comparison picture once before but it's relevant to this discussion, and also reflect how America and Japan sees female beauty in fictional media.

Xbox has a way more stricter policy when it comes to content both for violence and for sexual actions. Because this is Microsoft and they've been doing stuff like this since the mid 90's. How could Playstation be losing japan over a company policy when Microsoft has a way more stricter one in place. The art style argument also falls flat on it's face when you compare them to stuff like Apex Legends. There have been also been mistakes and backslides, for certain. A Killer Instinct on-stage demo at Microsoft's 2013 E3 media briefing got justifiably criticized for rape jokes, and as if that weren't bad enough, the company followed that up by hiring a YouTuber known for the same kind of jokes to star at its UK Xbox One launch party. Repeated accusations of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and misconduct also raise questions about Microsoft's actual commitment to equality and inclusivity beyond its public image.
Still, there are other signs suggesting the push to outgrow the juvenile and exclusionary adpects of traditional gamer culture isn't entirely for show.
Take the game Postal, for instance. Originally launched in 1997, Postal was among the earlier deliberately offensive edgelord PC games, taking its name from the phrase "going postal," a reference to a mass shooting at a post office in Edmond, Oklahoma in which 14 people were killed and six more injured.
A remake of that game, Postal Redux, launched in 2016, and was approved for release on Switch in 2020 and PS4 last year, perhaps surprisingly as I thought Nintendo and Sony would have frowned upon game titles referencing mass shootings.
One place you can't find Postal Redux is on Xbox consoles. The official Twitter account of Running With Scissors has tweeted at various Microsoft-owned accounts several times over the past year-plus about an Xbox version, saying Microsoft has twice turned it down with no explanation given.
Apex Legends Mobile, literally just out this year. The real Apex game has been out for like 3 years.
And people to this day still wonder why guys like looking at anime stuff.I remember posting this comparison picture once before but it's relevant to this discussion, and also reflect how America and Japan sees female beauty in fictional media.

Sony is moreso re-entering the space. They used to publish mobile titles as far back as Java on flip phones. Ratchet & Clank: Going Mobile was released in 2005. The early 2010s would be the boom in their mobile expansion. In 2013, we would get Ratchet & Clank Before The Nexus, which was an endless runner prequel to that year’s R&C title. 2013 also gave us the super strange PlayStation All-Stars Island presented by Coke Zero. A series of 4 endless runner type games starring Nathan Drake, Cole McGrath, SackBoy, and Kat. So yes, there was a mobile title for Gravity Rush at one point. Finally, in 2014, we got Run Sackboy Run, a 2D platformer endless runner much like Mario Run. As of now, Sackboy is the only game you can currently access on modern iOS. Ratchet & Clank never got updated, so I cannot download it, but it still has a page on the App Store, and I believe All-Stars is just gone now.Getting into mobile game development this late really gives me some Blockbuster On Demand vibes. The market's saturated to hell. And considering the pitiful output from the PlayStation brand over the past few years, I sincerely doubt Sony's gonna be publishing the next Genshin Impact or Pokemon Go.
I have no clue about the rest of the nintendo mobile shit with Mario. So I wouldn't use Nintendo as a good measuring stick.
If you get someone who can barely play the piano to try and write 12 original songs, they're not statistically bound to have at least one be the next Korobeinikiconsidering there are 11 other games following it, statistically one is bound to be.
You keep saying that Sony's mobile games are supposed to be more elaborate but you haven't given us anything that infers this. You can say everyone else is cherry picking all you want but at least they're providing something, you've posted basically nothing that tells us Sony's mobile games are supposed to be more elaborate, especially considering all the mobile games Sony already put out aren't all that different from the slew of other ones out there. It's not actually late for them though, the end goal is to make more mobile titles then consolidate their already existing mobile division with whatever ones of the 12+ new mobiles games that survive that they're making.
Their new mobile games are more elaborate than what they've supposedly put out before so it's going to be quite a few steps up from F/GO. Sony has had mobile developers since the PS3 era and they used to be part of studio Japan, when they consolidated the studio and rebranded them Team Asobi their mobile game studios did not close. Their Mayalsian support studios are mostly a thing due to their work on mobile games.
F/GO may eventually fall under the Playstation branding because the CEO of Sony Group itself has had a tendency to cut redundancies for their divisions. It's why Funimation was closed and was wrapped into Crunchyroll and why Aniplex has now absorbed many things that were formerly under different divisions. The company is in a state of growth with more aquisitions promised so more divisions/companies will be eventually reallocated or absorbed by others. They're not in a state of stagnation. The end goal according to the CEO is to treat all aspects of sony as a singular corporate organism like one would Disney or Warner Brothers. People don't really divide Disney into it's separate fronts it's just collectively known as Disney.
Sony couldn't even hold on to the handheld market against Nintendo's DS. What makes @Marissa Moira think that Sony would do better in the MOBILE market?Famous last words. If Nintendo can barely hang in the mobile market there's no way Sony will do anything of note unless it's riding off an anime or something,
Also have Fire Emblem Heroes which was a huge hitalso Pokemon Go is only Nintendo so far as that Nintendo owns most of The Pokemon Company, so they kinda sorta don't count
- Super Mario Run was heavily promoted and was mildly successful
- Dr. Mario World was a flop and has already closed (it was terrible)
- Mario Kart Tour is still going, but was widely panned
- and then they had stuff like Miitomo which was an Mii toy app thing everyone used for like a week and dropped
If you get someone who can barely play the piano to try and write 12 original songs, they're not statistically bound to have at least one be the next Korobeiniki
There's also Pokemon Shuffle, Magikarp Jump, Pokemon Masters EX, Pokemon Quest, Pokemon TCG Online, and Pokemon Cafe Mix.Pokemon Go is only Nintendo so far as that Nintendo owns most of The Pokemon Company, so they kinda sorta don't count
Nobody knows what exactly the games are, but Bungie was bought specifically for their multiplayer live service management which is intended to be brought to Mobile and PC.You keep saying that Sony's mobile games are supposed to be more elaborate but you haven't given us anything that infers this. You can say everyone else is cherry picking all you want but at least they're providing something, you've posted basically nothing that tells us Sony's mobile games are supposed to be more elaborate, especially considering all the mobile games Sony already put out aren't all that different from the slew of other ones out there.
“The strategic significance of this acquisition lies not only in obtaining the highly successful Destiny franchise, as well as major new IP Bungie is currently developing, but also incorporating into the Sony group the expertise and technologies Bungie has developed in the live game services space,” Totoki said.
And Dragalia Lost, which they collabed on despite it not being a pre-existing IP.Also have Fire Emblem Heroes which was a huge hit
and Pikmin Bloom which was a flop
Yyyyyyyep, a vague "We need to get into mobile because mobile = big" strategy is a classic way to nuke a business.Nobody knows what exactly the games are,
