I really hate this point that “we just want to let the states decide.” It is a sad argument because if abortion was illegal nationwide for the past 50 years, these religious nutters would most definitely not be using “state’s rights” as an arguing point.

No of course not. They’d be fighting against state’s ability to decide individually, claiming that federal law must be observed.

Kind of like how the left in the 90s was all about freedom of expression and fighting the Christian Right and their censorship and oppression until they got the power, then they strangled every value they ever said they held and drown them in the sink.

It's like people want to get into power so they can oppress others, no matter how pleasant the words they say to get you on their farm.

I hate the dems more though, because they were the side that lured me in and betrayed me in my youth. I will enjoy any suffering that comes around to them, even if it destroys things that we got that I approved of. They don't deserve any success or happiness, only to have all joy wrenched away from them.

Then, maybe next time, or in some distant future we can get some leadership that will actually be based around conceptual values being equal to all instead of devolving into another dictatorship that can't handle open discourse or the existence of anything they view as sinful.

Well we have rights. But just because something is a federal right doesn’t mean state and even local municipalities try to skirt around it somehow.

NY is a bit much too liberal for its own good sometimes. That’s just the crowd. Nevertheless the state doesn’t have the right to ignore constitutional amendments that were collectively passed by all states.

Now going back to abortion, the hypocrisy lies with allowing certain states to ban something that was already federally ruled as a constitutional right.
